Aleeya Just Collapsed-- What To Do Next?

Sounds like she's improving. Did the vets rule out a mini stroke as a case for the initial collapse? The reason I mention to check the urine is--if she's losing protein in her urine (proteinuria) than by default she's also losing an anti clotting factor-anti thrombin 3. The anti thrombin 3 helps prevent your blood from clotting-thrombosis may be a result (aka stroke).

I love the oldies-fingers crossed she continues to improve.

This link may be more than you need to read but, page 4-complications may be interesting to you...

Glad she's home. :)

Hope she feels 100% soon.

Hi all!

Yes, all neuro things were ruled out.

Yes, we're under strict rules to only give the Metacam at dinner time, and I do have pepcid which I can give her first, but I find that the pepcid actually throws off her tummy (loose stools) more than any painkiller ever has, so we'll give it a try on just a full stomach.

It's only 5-7 days too, not long term.

She did have a pee-a-palooza apparently sometime last night (and wouldn't you know it, new dog beds just this weekend)... She does pee mostly on the pad almost every day (this is an overnight thing, long story-- we just put down a pad and hope for the best).

DH said it was on her bed, on the kitchen floor, everywhere BUT the pad

I figure, it must be b/c she had IV all day yesterday-- she's walked at 10:30pm and he said she had a couple good pees, but she must've still been really full of fluid. Poor monkey.

anyway-- things are washing, floor is clean, and hopefully it will be a regular pee-on-the-pad night tonight.

Please-- don't add this as a symptom to the other stuff :) we had her tested up and down for the peeing thing, and there's nothing wrong with her, and it's all in one spot (usually...). Just saying, after a day on IV, we should've thought to take her out earlier in the morning, or in the middle of the night, or something.

live and learn...

Hugs,

S.

BTDT with the IV thing -- amazing how much fluid they can hold, isn't it? :lol Hope your girl continues to perk along.
