Walliered
You all are not going to believe this, but Lady is having really bad neck pains. My vet has her on two pain meds (since last Wednesday). I was in Charleston with my other hound (DaVid) when I got the news from my pet sitter. Anyway, I will probably be taking her to Charleston early next week. But, my question is: Where can I buy a very soft harness for her? She weighs right at 60#. I have looked online, but don't see anything much for a Greyhound. Thanks so much.
Remolacha
I get my harnesses from 2houndsdesign. They carry the wiggles wags and whiskers harness, perfect for greyhounds.
OwnedBySummer
I don't know about the soft requirement but I like the Wiggles Wags & Whiskers harness for greyhounds. You can get it from 2 Hounds. The part behind the front legs is velvet wrapped. Quote Lisa B. msjpk
Needs some pain meds, and steroids to start some healing. Neck pain is horrible for them. It may happen again so keep the meds on hand.
tbhounds
The ladies at GEM are awesome at super fast shipping and the proceeds benefit the hounds. http://www.gemgreyhounds.net/about-us/gem-store/
Walliered
The vet put her on Tramadol 50mg and Methocarbamol 500mg This does not seem to be doing anything since Wednesday night. Could I switch her to Gabapentin 100mg every 8 hours?
tbhounds
The Tramadol is for pain, the methocarbamol for a muscle relaxant but, no NSAID or corticosteroid?
Walliered
No this is all the vet gave me Friday. My sitter carried her to my vet Wed. afternoon, so she has been on just those two meds since then. I also think she has an ear infection (shaking head, pawing left ear and also flicking her ear). I found some Mometamax in the cabinet. It is a trick getting that in her ear when her neck really hurts. I think her neck is a little better this afternoon as she has come out in the living room once. But, she scoots to her crate. She acts scared of me. Rickiesmom
FWIW my Angel Arlie once had what I thought was severe neck pain. I took her to the vet and they discovered an ear infection. As that cleared up so did the "neck pain". Hopefully the real trouble here is the ear infection.
greyhoundgang
One way greyhounds have thrown out their necks, when at Greyhound Gang, is when they throw stuffies around. A quick trip to a chiropractor (Holistic Vets) will clear it up. Greyhound Gang also offers natural ways to reduce inflammation - Yucca is fabulous, and I wouldn't be within it. However, what you're describing sounds more like something in her ear. I'd have a vet look deep. And none of the pain meds will help get rid of something in the ear. Rickiesmom
I want to add that it turned out Arlie had dirt under her eardrum. This was discovered when I asked the dental surgeon at the specialty clinic where I have all dental work done, to have her ear flushed while she was under anaesthetic. After the ear flush, her ear problems went away, thankfully, though I continued to check that ear after the initial bad experience.
