macoduck
A friend's greyhound has eaten a bar of plain Dial soap. The entire bar of soap is missing except for the paper wrapper. The dog is not showing any signs of distress, diarrhea, or .........bubbles. Since we're not sure of the timeline I don't think inducing vomiting is an option. seeh2o
Yikes! I'd call a couple of E-Vets (or one trusted one) to see what they suggest. Batmom
Wouldn't hurt to call poison control. I am not an expert in this matter. I will say, Rocco the Evil Whippet ate many bars of soap in his day, until the parents wised up and got liquid soap. I don't think he ever had so much as a bad fart from the experience. But he was an incorrigibly tough little guy. kamsmom
I know you are worried, but I just have to say that this actually made me smile a bit. Steak LOVED soap. My husband travels a lot and would always have the hotel soaps in his suit case, he would set the suitcase out and Steak would always find the little bar soaps and eat them, but first he carefully picked off all the nasty paper It never hurt him and the vet told me not to worry about it. He said it would just pass... Guest Energy11
I really don't know too much about this myself. To be on he safe side, I would definitely call the E-vet to get his/her input. Might be something as simple as bad diarrhea, but, then again ... there are certain chemicals in soaps. Hoping for a good "clean" outcome! Guest PhillyPups
That is one heck of a way to clean the system. I have not had a greyhound eat soap, and when my son mouthed off to me, well let's just say he did not enjoy the taste.

Guest FullMetalFrank
MSDS sheets are available online for many household products; here's one for Dial bar soap: http://www.andersonsanitary.com/MSDS/Dial_Bar_Soap.pdf

TwiggysMom
Years ago one of my cats was obsessed with soap. I could always tell when he'd gotten into some because he would crawl up next to me with a very sudsy sound in his mouth! Never hurt him, but I did start hiding my soap.
