Bloodwork in Sept showed his liver results were slightly elevated.

I started him on milk thistle.

Going back to get blood work done again.

Hopefully it's all normal.

Got his bloodwork back and his liver values are still high along with a couple others

Here's his history

2009 ALT 47 AST 37 Creatinine 1.8 HBG 21.1 HCT 64

2010 ALT 47 AST 42 Creatinine 1.9 HGB 22.2 HCT 63

Sept 2011 ALT 249 AST 62 Creatinine 1.6 HGB 22.1 HCT 64

What are the lab norms for those values, Kari? Usually you don't worry about ALT/AST unless you have symptoms or the value is several times the upper limit. Can be just an artifact from the blood draw.

They should be on your bloodwork -- you want the normals for the lab that did the bloodwork :) . Unless your lab has really weird normals, tho, your HGB, HCT, and Creatinine are all fine. Greyhounds should be a little high on HGB/HCT, and often are a little high on creatinine.

Maybe you should email the numbers to Jean Dodds for her interpretation. The creatinine looks a lot like Carl and Claire's, they often run a tiny bit higher than "normal". When Claire's creatinine came back 1.7 last June, Jean noted next to the level that it was "normal for breed". I was relieved to read that. I get all their blood work run through Jean's lab, unless we're running something like TBD titers.

creatinine range is 0.5-1.6

ALT range is 12-118

AST range is 15-66

HGB range is 12.1-20.3

HCT range is 38-60

His bloodwork is fine. No concern about any of those numbers.
