Newgreymom
Daisy had a complete blood workup done last week. She had a CBC, Chem Panel, and Complete Thyroid. It was all sent to Michigan State since we live in MI. We also requested the Endocrinologist interpret the thyroid results since they are familiar with Sighthounds. The vet charged me $225. That seems a little expensive. Has anyone had all these different blood tests lately and if you did, how much did you pay?
macoduck
Pudge the mutt just had a Senior Panel done which included urinalysis - $140 in addition to the office visit, vaccinations and fecal. Urinalysis looked bad so the vet asked that a urine creatinine/protein ratio test be run - additional $106. Newgreymom
Ducky, did his senior panel include a thyroid panel?
Batmom
MSU's fee schedule is here: http://www.dcpah.msu.edu/Misc/AD.ADM.REF.005.pdf . Your vet does some markup, which is common, to cover blood draw, shipping, interpretation, etc. Assuming the premium thyroid panel, I'm estimating @ $145 MSU cost for what you describe. I honestly don't know what normal vet markups are. Altho some tests have been costly, my vets are pretty good to me so when it comes to send-outs I close my eyes and hand over the credit card. tbhounds
I think the fee you paid sounds fair.

Guest kydie
I too think this sounds fair,, I live in the middle of nowhere.. and that is about what a senior panel, lyms, heartworm labs run
MP_the4pack
A full thyroid here in NJ is over $100. So add that to the rest of the bloodwork and an endocrinologist reading the thyroid and it actually sounds like a good price.
GeorgeofNE
I took my CAT in for a rabies shot and they ran a "senior profile" and it cost more than that. That was a CBC and UA. $65 to walk in the door, some INSANE amount of money for the shot...I don't think I ever leave the vet without dropping at least $200.
