PrairieProf Posted August 7, 2011 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Looking at Silver's beautiful photos again, I just wanted to add a little safety note -- most of us believe it is much safer not to have the tags attached to the martingale's D-ring, since if the tags were to catch on something it would be very bad. Safer to attach them to one of the other, non-tightening metal fittings on the collar. I also learned from GT that it was safest to keep martingales for outside/walks, and use a plain tag collar in the house if I need a collar on at all. Guest Rexanne Posted August 11, 2011 Share Posted August 11, 2011 So tell us more about gorgeous Silver -- how'd you get him? What's his personality like so far? We adopted Silver on July 3, 2011. He was a bounce back and we met him at a meet and greet about a week after he went back to the foster home, they had not even put his picture back on the web site yet. The first thing we noticed about him was that he is much larger than the other pups and we thought oh wow thats a big dog! He is about 31" at the shoulder and at the time weighed about 90 lb. We kept being drawn back to him and decided to have him come by for a home visit that weekend and by the next he was ours. He is 5 years old and is such a sweet boy, and is quite laid back and mellow, well except for the happy dance of course. I have come to think he is related to some degree to velcro or possibly super glue but can't find the link yet in his family tree. I guess I never knew what I was missing until after I found it.
