jetcitywoman
Last night we picked up our new baby. His racing name was JJ Mix It Up and he raced in Dubuque. He's 4 years old and weighs in at 80 pounds (retired weight). Right off the bat we noticed that he was curious and affectionate even in a strange place with strange people after a very long day of transportation. He's a tail wagger, so we're going to have to watch out for Happy Tail. He raced up and down the stairs after seeing Capri do it, so she's doing her part to help us train him! They're getting along okay; she snarks when he steps over her but they'll work that out between the two of them. No problem eating near each other, and she's pretty nice to him. He pulls on the leash a bit but we'll work on that. It could just be because he's in a strange new place. Oh, and he's a kisser! We adore him! If his foster family happens to be lurking here, PM me and I'd be happy to send updates. jetcitywoman
We had a great first day! He was hyper this morning but settled down to proper greyhound napping for most of the day. No accidents in the house and got along well with Capri. He pulls a little on lead, but that could be because he's new. He also reminded me that when we first got Capri I was always tripping over her and stepping on her feet and I thought I was such a spazz. What klutz trips over her own dog? Nope, now he's doing it too, veering into me and walking too close to my feet. I kept having to gently knee him over. Now I know it's not me, and that it's normal, so no problem! And it was fun to see our neighborhood through the eyes of a new dog again. "Whazzat?" looking at all the strange things and odd noises. I think he's going to settle into a cuddle dog. He likes to push his head under your arm or into your chest so you can pet him. I found myself hugging him several times today simply because he was pushing into my arms. What a love!
