maximum Posted June 12, 2010 Share Posted June 12, 2010 Just a little follow up to my post on Max' extreme panting/ lethargy. He went to the chiro last Tuesday and she could find nothing amiss ("remarkably good shape for 12 year old dog of any breed!") We went to the vet this morning, with urine sample and to get blood work. Everything came back perfect, again "remarkably good shape for a 12 year old!!" So, that is all good - he is very healthy! And he has been much better with the cooler temps of the past week. But that does narrow what could be wrong, and is making laryngeal paralysis more and more likely (not that I'm truly surprised). The last thing to try is metacam for a couple of days, and see if there is pain from arthritis that could be helped (and might ease the hind end weakness/shaking). We're also going to try some acupuncture, specifically focussing on LP. Thanks for your good thoughts and comments - I'll follow up on how the metacam/acupuncture goes and if it helps or not. Guest Energy11 Posted June 12, 2010 Share Posted June 12, 2010 Poor Max! Summer here has been HEck!!!!!!!!!!!!! The temps surely could be effecting him, when it is hott. Having been a paramedic, I can tell you, my patients with any types of breathing disorders (*LP could easily fit into this category), had trouble with it was HOT and HUMID! MY dogs will not go out, except to pee and poop! I stand out there for five minutes, and the sweat rolls down! The weather is INSANE and not good for anyone's health. Hopefully, you will get a cooler summer. I'd keep Max inside as much as possible. Unfortunately, that is what WE have had to do these last few days here, and for more days to come, and I have relatively healthy greyts! Good luck and send a HUG to Max for us!
