Guest Downtownhoundz
Poor Ben, I had to rush him to the vet again this afternoon and have them "clean" him out! He was screaming so loud while we were out on our walk and I couldn't get both boyz settled down enough to get back to the house. Ben was all hunched over screaming with poop half in and half out...I was so scared! I got him to the vet and they cleaned him out again, he screamed the whole time. The vet said he apparently has two pockets on either side of the colon which waste gets trapped in. We're home now and he's panting and whimpering with an occasional whine, looking at his butt. His regular vet has been on vacation but I'm gonna call her and see if she was able to get the names of the people who did the double surgery on this poor pup! We came home with a bag of very low residue food to try. This really scares me when he starts screaming like this.

CaliforniaGreys
I've read you post about this before. What I don't understand is, what was he eating at the kennel? If he didn't have the problem there after the surgery, why now? Is it all diet related? Poor guy, I sure hope you get to the bottom of it Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless

Guest Energy11
The low-residue food might help. Good Luck with this, and I am sure it IS scary!
Batmom
Poor bug . Believe there is a surgery they do where they just shorten the colon -- cut that section out altogether -- so it would be worth knowing if that was already tried or if they did something else when they worked on him before. krissn333
My Skimmie used to have unusually large poops that hurt him...I gave him Metamucil with his food and he did fine...however, switching to TOTW Pacific Stream has helped his poop be much more appropriately sized for his tiny little body Sounds like diverticulitis in people...I don't know much about it but I just wanted to pass along my hopes that Ben is feeling better soon - poor boy Quote Kristin in Moline, IL USA with Ozzie (MRL Crusin Clem), Clarice (Clarice McBones), Latte and Sage the IGs, and the kitties: Violet and Rose Lovingly Remembered: Sutra (Fliowa Sutra) 12/02/97-10/12/10, Pinky (Pick Me) 04/20/03-11/19/12, Fritz (Fritz Fire) 02/05/01 - 05/20/13, Ace (Fantastic Ace) 02/05/01 - 07/05/13, and Carrie (Takin the Crumbs) 05/08/99 - 09/04/13.
