Guest hvacman250
Well, we went to Upstate this morning (Upstate is a group of specialists/board certified surgeons). Surgeon looked at his original xrays and we talked a bit. I told him I wanted new xrays taken since it had been 2 weeks since injury. They sedate Rocket and take him for xrays and to manipulate his knee. He comes back grinning ear to ear and says "no surgery". One vet and one specialist had said his cruciate ligaments were badly torn. Today they were intact and fine. The top and bottom leg bone were touching with no space in between and were offset. Today they were perfectly aligned with spacing in between. The original xrays showed the top part of his tibia exploded (in the surgeon's words) Today, the xrays showed the bones fusing back together. After I picked my jaw up off the floor and looked at his xrays, the vet tells me he has a 90% chance of gaining full fuction in his knee. 5% chance the knee stiffens/seizes up and another 5% the bones that are fusing together start to fall back apart. He said arthritis shouldnt even be a concern with the way the xrays look now. He has to be quiet and re-examined in 3 weeks, but Im calling this a miracle. You dont really appreciate the before and after until you see the xrays. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers guys! I tried scanning the original x-ray, but it doesnt show up clearly. The top bone is resting on the bottom bone, and the bottom bone is angled to the side. Here is today's x-ray: And a picture of the lucky guy:
LuvAPuppy
it's entirely not that I don't believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking, but I work in health care (albeit human care) so I have to ask.....they did xray the correct knee today, right? If so, I'm OVERJOYED for Rocket and for you!!!! If so, I'm OVERJOYED for Rocket and for you!!!! They did a front and side of left ANd right knees for comparison. Believe me, I questioned that poor man to death Dude, we buy dem a da local Petsmart. Iffen yoo cant find one, lemme know and Ill get yoo won. -Zanier, bloo ball buyer Oh, yea. The funny thing is after I saw the first xrays, I wanted him into surgery to "fix" him. Scheduled first surgery, surgeon cancelled. Made appt with second ortho guy, he turned us down due to the complexity from seeing the xrays. Fast forward one week from 2nd vet and its today with a good prognosis. What if the first surgeon had jumped in? Or second surgeon? Things happe for a reason I guess. HIS timing is better than mine, huh? Edited July 17, 2009 by hvacman250
