Guest TaraCoachCougar
Usually when we uncrate Cougar he flies through the house for a couple of laps. We just let him out and he slowly walked out. He is moving slow, but doesn't appear to have limping or anything. I tried to feed him his supper and he only drank a little water and finally ate only a few kibbles. His gums look a little white to me. Anything I should be on the lookout for with this odd behavior?
greyhead
Hm, that sounds suspicious and not good. If the gums stay pale and he continues moving slow and not eating, I'd think a vet visit would be in order, or at least a phone call to them. Sending good thoughts. Guest Ohiogreymom
The white gums would worry me. I'd give my vet a call. Good luck and keep us posted.
Guest TaraCoachCougar
My vet is closed right now, but if I feel like it warrants it, I'll take him to the e-vet this evening in the next city over. He is in there eating a little more right now (but not with his usual vigor) and drinking a tad of water. I also got a good healthy poop when I took him out about 5 minutes ago. Praying it's nothing,

Guest SoulsMom
If you push on his gums, does the color fade then come back quickly? Could just be tummy upset. If he's not vomiting, pacing, or Big D I wouldn't be two worried at this point. But if he can't get comfortable and is acting distressed I'd probably consider having him checked. Guest Energy11
White gums usually mean, bleeding someplace in the body. I might see the E-vet. Weakness, pale gums, cool limbs, and not eating, etc. , could mean a slow bleed someplace in the body! :-( I HOPE things turn out okay, but, if it were my dog, I'd see the E-vet before Monday, JUST in case! Good Luck, many prayers here!

Guest TaraCoachCougar
Thanks and please keep praying and sending good thoughts. I'm at home, but Cougar stayed. She wants to flush a lot of fluids through him to see if he can get rid of whatever is causing the pain. Hopefully it will come out and they won't have to open up a 12 1/2 year old with clotting issues to remove anything. He did get into DH's work cooler and went for a baggie full of candy Thursday night. He tore into a skittles bag and helped himself to at least 2 suckers. He normally leaves the baggie when he destroys them thinking there may be food inside, but he could have gotten some small amount of baggie I guess. His bloodwork was all pretty normal. I'll let you know how it goes.

HopeForHounds
Hoping whatever it is will work it's way out. If he needs surgery, get your vet to use Amocar, the drug OSU uses to prevent bleeding in greyhounds.
