Guest ejw Posted May 10, 2009 Share Posted May 10, 2009 Tansi was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her left shoulder about 5 weeks ago. She had been limping off and on since about December, but for the last two weeks she was rarely using her leg and any gentle bump on the tumor side caused pain. We have gradually had less and less good days or nights. She was in severe pain the night before last and all day yesterday. None of her meds would knock it down, even when I gave her double the dose and more doses than prescribed. I took her to the vet and he was surprised how much the cancer had spread since he saw her last. It had spread across her chest and down her leg and she was losing weight. I decided to let her go. Right now I feel strange with only one dog after years of two or more, and Jamaica is a bit lost. She lost her best bud Scooter days before Christmas and now her running partner is gone. I will miss my shy little girl, and I will miss watching her come out of her shell more and more with each day that passed -- she never quit getting over her fears, and over the last few weeks made friends with the neighbours, something I thought she would never do. I will miss watching her toss stuffies around before she went outside and before meals, and playing "catch me if you can". Tansi, you are truly free to run with the wind, unencumbered by a betraying body, but knowing you, you probably already found a comfy cushion in the sunlight and are letting all the other greys chase the squirrels.
