Guest bowiebears Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 Some of you will remember that our first greyhound, Dowland (AKA Don't Point), died in his sleep in January. I found him lying in his library in a sunbeam about 10.15 on 20 January. He was with us almost 10 years, and would have been 14 years old on 17 June. Our other houndie, Azalea (AKA PG Azalea), mourned him for a week or so, then settled into be sole dog, but she didn't seem to relish it much. And we had decided that we like have 2 hounds with us, so we started to look around for a new family member. Azalea is a laid-back kind of girl, and she interviewed 2 local fosters (Thanks, Brett, for bringing them to visit). And she would have been happy with them as housemates. Then we heard that there was a hound in Wheeling who'd just retired and shared Dutch Bahama in his pedigree with Dowland. Dutch Bahama was Dowland's grandsire; he was this other hound's great-grandsire. But, as things worked out, his owner decided he didn't want to give him up. And that was when Lisa of Grey's Landing suggested we look at Grant, who has been waiting for a few years for a couch of his own. Yesterday, we took Azalea up to Breezewood PA to collect Grant.
