Clementine- When Will This End

Clementine, who was diagnosed with Addison's disease on 10/14 has been

re-hospitalized (she came home 10/15). Although her Addison's is under

control (yeah), she is bleeding in her intestinal tract and is

undergoing a barium series as we speak. I took her in due to a sore

abdomen, diarrhea and bloody stool. She is anemic and her red blood

cell count was 1/2 of her initial level taken on 10/14. Please keep her

in your thoughts. I am hoping the treatment will identify the source of

bleeding and assist in stopping it before she needs a blood transfusion

or surgery. This is all too much. Thanks for prayers or any input. She

is trying so hard to get well but keeps running into additional

obstacles.

Thank you everyone for your thought and prayers. Clemmie pulled through the GI bleeding and was on her way to recovery. This AM the specialist called and was concerned with her labored breathing. They completed a chest x-ray which indicted air in her chest cavity. She has had her chest tapped 2x in today. The first time they removed 3 liters and the second time 1.5 liters. I stayed with her after the second tap and within 1 hour she was laboring for air.

I had my primary vet call the specialist and review her case. They concluded that she needed surgery to locate and repair the source of the air leak. I pondered the options and decided that surgery was the only option I would be able to choose. I know I could/would never forgive myself for not giving her a chance. There is only one Clementine and now if she is meant to return home and be well, I have given her every opportunity. Once again, I am asking for positive thoughts. She should be out of surgery within the hour. Hopefully, she will return home to her own bed by Friday. I can not wait to have her home and hear her howl at me. What a whirlwind of a a week.

The phone rang in the middle of this post. She is out of surgery. She had two tears and a piece of her lung was adhered to her ribcage. He removed that lobe and sent in for a biopsy along with part of her lymph node. Now it just can not be cancer. She is only 3.

What a nightmare. Fingers crossed that the biopsy shows nothing of importance at all and that Clementine will be home and recovering properly in the next day or so :candle

A little update. Clementine's fluid/air aspitarion has reduced from 2 liters per 12 hours to less than 1.5 liters in 12 hours post surgery. I will know more when I go to visit at 8:00. The vet called to beg the lab to rush the pathology report so we can make a better determination as to why she is healing more slowly than the "typical" patient post surgery. I am hoping that it is just a culmination of all the factors (Addisons, ulcers, lung lobe removal) that she is working to heal. Hope the report comes back soon.

Additionally, the specialist contacted the clinic owner and talked to her about Clemmie's case. She is allowing Clem to stay in the hospital over the weekend for medical boarding rate rather than treatment/care hospitalization rate. I know that everyone at the clinic is pulling for her. I will post pictures later tonight or in the AM. Please keep up the positive, healing thoughts.

Many, many thanks

Lora
