6greyhounds
A SPECIAL GIFT You're giving me a special gift, So sorrowfully endowed, And through these last few cherished days, Your courage makes me proud. But really, love is knowing When your best friend is in pain, And understanding earthly acts Will only be in vain. So looking deep into your eyes, Beyond, into your soul, I see in you the magic, that will Once more make me whole. The strength that you possess, Is why I look to you today, To do this thing that must be done, For it's the only way. That strength is why I've followed you, And chose you as my friend, And why I've loved you all these years... My partner 'til the end. Please, understand just what this gift, You're giving, means to me, It gives me back the strength I've lost, And all my dignity. You take a stand on my behalf, For that is what friends do. And know that what you do is right, For I believe it too. So one last time, I breathe your scent, And through your hand I feel, The courage that's within you, To now grant me this appeal. Cut the leash that holds me here, Dear friend, and let me run, Once more a strong and steady dog, My pain and struggle done. And don't despair my passing, For I won't be far away, Forever here, within your heart, And memory I'll always stay. I'll be there watching over you, Your ever faithful friend, And in your memories I'll run, ...a young dog once again. 6greyhounds
Jackie Here is the one I told you I would find that was sent to me when we lost our first greyhound Shadow (Shadow Do) The Spirit Of A Greyhound I was standing on a hillside in a field of blowing wheat, and the spirit of a Greyhound was lying at my feet. He looked at me with kind dark eyes, ancient wisdom shining through. in the essence of his being, I saw the love there too. His mind did lock upon my heart as I stood there on that day, and he told me of this story about a place so far away. As I stood upon that hillside in a field of blowing wheat, in a twinkling of a second his spirit left my feet. His tale did put my heart at ease, all my fears did fade away about what lay ahead of me on another distant day. "I live among God's creatures now in the heavens of your mind, so do not grieve for me, my friend as I am with my kind. My collar is a rainbow's hue, my leash a shooting star. my boundaries are the Milky Way where I sparkle from afar. There are no pens or kennels here for I am not confined, but I'm free to roam God's heavens among the Greyhound kind. I nap the day on a snowy cloud gentle breezes rocking me, and dream the dreams of earthlings, and how it used to be. The trees are full of liver treats, and tennis balls abound, and milk bones line the walkways just waiting to be found. There even is a ring set up, the grass all lush and green; and everyone who gaits around becomes the Best of Breed. For we're all winners in this place; we have no faults, you see. and God passes out those ribbons to each one, even me. I drink from waters laced with gold, my world a beauty to behold; and wise old dogs do form my pride to amble at my very side. At night I sleep in angel's arms, her wings protecting me, and moonbeams dance about us as stardust falls on thee. So when your life on earth is spent and you stand at Heaven's gate, have no fear of loneliness-- for here, you know, I wait." -Author Unknown Quote It is better to have loved and lostThan never to have loved at allMissing my Big Blue eyed Bear

greyheart
Jackie, Barry and Amy, I am sorry to hear that Turbo has crossed the rainbow bridge. You have wonderful memories and lots of pictures to reach out to help with this painful time. We love them and it hurts to have to say good bye. I look out in the early morn and remember how much Monti loved to run in the yard and sniff the fresh air and be thankful for the new day. Turbo maybe gone but never from your heart. Hugs from our house to all of yours, Edited July 3, 2008 by greyheart
