Introducing Chap

Hello from Northern Virginia!

We'd like to introduce Chap (racing name "Storm Stalker"). We adopted him just over a week ago and he's been a joy so far! When he first got to his new home, he had a good look around, bumped into a few windows, and spent about 10 minutes looking in the mirror. He now spends most of his time on one of his dog beds. He's had two accidents inside the house before he learned the difference between inside and outside but has been clean for about a week now and today spent his first time alone at home outside the crate and was fine. And he's been doing all his business in the corner of the yard that I've asked him to use.

He's a big hound (77 lbs) and likes to surf the counters, but he's getting better at not stealing food. Chap is very quiet and has only let out 2 woofs so far - at the Corgi next door, but he was in a playful mood. Chap loves to run around our backyard - our lawn is already starting to deteriorate. He goes so fast that he leaves a trail of dirt flying through the air behind him. I think he's breaking our local speed limit.

Sometimes he plays in the mornings when he wakes up, by throwing his stuffies in the air. He's been very good with our girls (ages almost 3, 6, and 8).

As new greyhound owners, we've learned a lot from reading everyone's postings!

Thanks

Welcome! He is gorgeous--love those big brindle boys. Badger is a mere 65 pounds right now but we're trying to fatten him up a bit. :)

He's very handsome...his antics remind me of our two. Pop loves to go tearing across our yard and huge chunks of sod will fly behind him...sometimes he's so close to us when he takes off that we get sprayed with dirt! When we first got Zelda, she would poop, then dig in all four paws and throw chunks of dirt everywhere...she stopped that after about a week (there was no snow on the ground at first, but now there is and she loves wher we throw snow at her as she thinks it's a game). Pop's only had accidents in the house when he was on steroids, so we've been lucky.

Is this your Chap?

Wow! He was quite a racer with 156 races and 21 wins! Your boy could run! :gh_run2

Yes, that's the one! He's very fast, and he likes to stick to the center of the path just in front of me when we're out walking - maybe that helped him win. I'm training him to stay to the side so we don't trip over each other!

He looks very tall, is he? My Frankie was about the same weight when I adopted him 6 years ago, he's around 81 lbs. now and usually the tallest grey at any event we go to.... Chap is very handsome, welcome to GT!
