  1. Prayers for Miz Foxy coming your way from Orlando. Carol Ann
  2. I just read this thread this morning. Sending many prayers for a full recovery for Dallas. Carol Ann
  3. First I want to give you and your family a cyber hug. I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this nasty thing called cancer. When it comes to treatment, I would go with what Batmom said. Dogs live for the here and now. They do not mourn what might not be, they enjoy what is happening right at this moment. Artemis is looking for ear skritches and belly rubs and lots and lots of love. If her time on this earth is shorter then you would have liked, (and it will ALWAYS be too short for all our beloved pups) the sadness is on your part not on hers. All she knows is that life is good. The food keeps my belly full. My family love me. Extraordinary medical measures may buy her some extra time or they may make her time here painful. My own personal opinion would be to make each moment with her as special as it can be. To make sure to keep her as pain free as possible. To make that final decision a day early rather then a day late. We all owe our greys good medical care, but good care does not necessarily mean doing everything that is humanly possible when the outcome is unlikely to provide any kind of long term cure. Sometimes the best decision is one to not act instead of act. Again, I am so very sorry that you are having to face these painful decisions. Please know that no one here on Greytalk will judge you for what ever medical protocol that you decide to go with. We each have to make these difficult choices knowing our own pups and their temperaments and what is best for them. Hugs, Carol Ann
  4. Oh I am so sorry to hear about this. Run free sweet girlie. Carol Ann
  5. Sending prayers DeVon for you, Raven and Amber. Your family has been through enough lately. Carol Ann
  6. I am so very sorry for your loss Marilyn. I hope that the precious memories you have of Sport will bring you comfort in the days ahead. All the dogs that came after Sport thank him for opening the door to happiness for them. Carol Ann
  7. There must be a "falling off the bed" virus going around this week because Riley fell off on Monday evening. DH and I were watching television with Specky at the bottom and Riley lying beside me with his back to the edge. All of a sudden I saw him slowing sliding off, and there was nothing that I could do to stop him! Horrible sounding THUD as he hit the floor on his side. I felt so bad for him. He was no worse for the wear and jumped right back up again, but this time in the middle of the bed! Carol Ann
  8. In her bathroom trash can raiding, is there any chance that she could have ingested a sanitary napkin or tampon? These things are designed to expand when wet, so I imagine that these could pose a serious problem once they hit her stomach. Carol Ann
  9. I am so sorry to hear about Katie-bug's passing. Suzie you and Brian have been through so much, and my heart just goes out to you both. I hope that in the days ahead, the wonderful memories of your precious pup will bring you comfort. Carol Ann
  10. Keep in mind that a dog fresh off the track is going to be much more muscular then that same dog two years post racing. A pound of muscle and a pound of fat both weight the same - one pound - but that pound of muscle is much more dense, and takes up less room on the body. So you could have two dogs, both the same height and weight that look very different due to the amount of muscle mass they are carrying. What I am trying to say is that we need to go by more then just the number on the scale! We need to look at how the dog appears, can we see ribs, how is their gait? What is their overall level of health? Carol Ann
  11. Good thoughts coming your way for your precious girlie Foxy!! Carol Ann
  12. I bought a bottle of the Kirkland brand that has 750mg of Glucosamine HCI and 600mg of Chondroitin Sulfate in each pill. They say that the pills are similar to Move Free Triple Strength. So far all three of mine will eat the pills like candy, even though they are not chewable forms! I just shake the bottle and they all come running for their "treat" each morning! Does it matter that I did not buy a specific brand? Specky had been having some crying issues, and after X-rays and an exam the vet wanted me to give her a supplement. The crying stopped, and she seems fine now. She has only just turned four years old, but she did have a shoulder injury that ended her brief career. (3 whole races!) She is also a very big whiney butt - she cries just for the fun of it if you know what I mean. I figured that since I was giving the pills to her, they could not hurt Gizzy who is turning five next month, and Riley who is turning four. Carol Ann
  13. DeVon you and Amber have my sincere sympathy. Please don't ever think that you failed the Fruitbat, because you did not. You gave her a home filled with love and scritches. She knew how very much she was loved and cared for. While she is no longer here for you to touch and kiss, she is still here in spirit watching over you both. I have every confidence that she is running at the Rainbow Bridge right now, feeling strong and well. One day many, many years from now you will be reunited with your beloved girlie. Until then, keep on doing what you do to help all of God's creatures, and you will be making Skittle's proud of her Mama. Carol Ann
  14. I am so very sorry that you received such a tragic diagnosis. I will be keeping you and your family (both human and pups) in my thoughts and prayers. Carol Ann
  15. Prayers coming your way for Alan. Carol Ann
  16. I agree that her gait is definately "off" in some way. Almost like she has something stuck up her behind. Any chance that she is constipated or impacted in that area? Do you have a way to let the vet see this video when you take her in? Maybe get it on your cell phone, or let them know that you need access to the internet to show him the photobucket site? Carol Ann
