  1. Mimosas for you, Rimadryl for him. Sounds like a plan. Hope you both feel much better tomorrow.
  2. I'd guess he's dragging it. You could protect the nails with a boot. Another option--the one I'd use--is SoftClaws, which are plastic nail covers. The package includes glue, but they seem to stay on fairly well without it.
  3. Another vote for the vet here. I've had way too much experience with bloody poop, and I know how fast things can deteriorate. The listlessness is a big concern too. I understand your concerns about the emergency vet; perhaps you can convince them to do supportive stuff (fluids and injected meds) and save the diagnostics for your regular vet.
  4. A couple of times when one of the poodles had an ear on fire due to an infection, the vet used dexamethasone (injected). That was just short-term relief until the other stuff (ear cleaning and oribiotic oil (or Surolan) started to work. I too have had some success with allergy tests.
  5. Some of my girls have had UTI symptoms and negative tests--even on cultures--but responded to antibiotics. There are other possiblities, of course. Was there any reason (stress? activity?) that she might have been drinking too much yesterday? Any change in food or treats? Is her tummy upset? (Minnie tended to drink a lot before her IBD was under control.) How is she today?
  6. Sounds like a UTI to me. Hope it is.

    Venus

How incredibly sad. She was gorgeous as well as very special, and she left much too soon. My sympathies to her new family. Godspeed Venus.

I'm so very sorry. Your precious screwball left much too soon. Godspeed Sobe.

    Butkus

I'm so very sorry. Godspeed Butkus.
  11. I was going to stay out of this because I don't feed raw, but FWIW: Minnie, diagnosed via scoping > 8 yrs ago, is fed kibble. Once a week, everybody gets some sort of a chew: dehydrated this or that, frozen raw whatever. As long as I give her something to which she is not allergic (according to the blood tests) and is not too fatty, she's fine. She can, for example, enjoy a chunk of lamb flank or a beef rib. Perhaps she could tolerate one chew of something to which she is sensitive, but I wouldn't risk it. ETA: At the moment, she isn't on any meds. If I need to give her Metacam, I use Misoprostal; if her stool is soft, Tylocine (Tylan). Fortunately, she hasn't needed pred for a long time. Fingers crossed that she remains as stable as she's been.
  12. Not all dogs do well on z/d. It might be worth trying something else. Another option, although a lot of vets don't like it: food allergy blood tests. The information from them has helped me a lot.
  13. As mentioned by Houndtime, peroxide dosage is 1 tsp per 10 lbs body weight, with one repeat if it doesn't work in 15-20 minutes. Hydrogen Peroxide should be 3% strength. See PetPlace.com on Inducing Vomiting. My vet has also suggested mustard (plain prepared mustard), but I haven't tried it. ETA: I hope everything comes out OK in the end.
  14. I'm so sorry. She was much too young to have to leave. Godspeed Darla.

  17. I'm so very sorry. Godspeed Bailey.
  18. I'm so glad he's feeling better. I don't know the car harness, but the Ruffwear Webmaster worked really well for Cora. Given all the different things you've had to feed him over the past few days, soft stool isn't surprising. As long as it doesn't deteriorate further, he'll be OK.
  19. I hope he starts to feel better soon.
  20. I am so very very sorry. What a devastating loss of an extraordinarily special girl. Godspeed Brandy.

    Murphy Moo

I am heartbroken for you. Murphy left much much too soon. Your precious boy shared some characteristics with his Mom--my Piper--including those eargasms, but the biggest and best way they were alike is that they touched us so deeply. And neither stayed nearly long enough. Godspeed Murphy.
  22. I didn't meet him, but I miss him too--the great pics, the twinkle. BuyCut
