So sorry for you! What a beautiful girl.
  2. Billy was one very special boy. He will be missed by all that knew him;-( Beautiful tribute.
  3. Both of my pups are on Glucosamine supplements and have been since I've had them.
  4. Sites are being rotated. Thanks for the feedback. I'll continue to see how he does on twice weekly injections and decide what to do.
  5. I've posted and asked about Adequan in recent weeks. Coyote is have injections 2x/week and today was number 5. I've seen no change. Some minor swelling at the injection sight and some diarrhea though nothing that persists. I've committed to a month of twice weekly injections. Is this a fair trial?
  6. Cannot emphasize this enough. You cannot swallow your tongue. However it can drop back and block your airway so all you do is keep your pup (or human) on it's side and protect them when they are thrashing. Sorry this happened.
  7. I agree. I'll keep todays appt and see what happens. If I'm not satisfied I'll take another approach. Thanks everyone for your feedback.
  8. Raineys Mom this was my original post. http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php/topic/281251-adequan-injections/
  9. What I meant by this is that perhaps it's a licensing issue. Despite my being a nurse I could never give a patient a syringe and say do it yourself even if they were a nurse themselves. It's all I can think of but I'll see him in the a.m. and discuss it. Thinking he may feel it's a liability issue if I screwed up.
  10. Not injected into the joint but apparently I cannot legally administer an IM injection (into the muscle) but could if it were subcutaneously (under the skin). If IM provides more benefit I'm totally ok with that. It's just weird that a couple of years ago I helped a friend with sc injections of Adequan and now I cannot administer these to my dogs.
  11. I posted earlier about the benefits of Adequan injections and have decided to go ahead with it. My vet however says that I cannot administer it b/c it's an intramuscular injection. Everything I know and read said it was a subcutaneous injection. Anyone want to comment?
  12. Jordan wish I were closer to help. Sending good thoughts for Dandi.
  13. Thanks Macoduck. This was a very tough year for our pups.
  14. I can definitely manage the shots as I'm a nurse (albeit a psych RN) but I also gave Klem Vit B 12 shots for his IBD. If it works, it's worth any amount. I feel like it's a case where I won't do any harm and there is some real benefits.
  15. Thank you all. Peacehound I did see that your dog suffered from diarrhea. I'll be talking with my vet next week.
  16. Considering Adequan for my older boy Coyote who doesn't seem to tolerate NSAIDS well. I've done a search here on H&M and there seems to be info in support of it. Xrays show degenerative joint disease in the shoulders. Any advice? Also anything on cost, frequency of administration and or side effects is greatly appreciated.
  17. I would highly recommend Dr. Bari Speilman (female) at Vescone. Expertise is GI problems. I've dealt with her with my dog and know of several others as well.
  18. I probably would and then you'll have a baseline xray of that leg if it's an old injury. Glucosamine is a good recommendation too. If he had an old break it may be that it will swell and cause pain intermittently.
  19. I will forever miss my little cirmudgeon! God speed Ave. Run like the wind with all those gone before you especially Safari.
  20. Honored to meet Bee in Dewey this year. God Speed Bee Wiseman.
  21. Congratulations ladies. Cannot wait to meet Atomic. It's been a long time in coming
  22. RIP Linda and my deepest sympathies to her family.
  23. Agree with the dropped muscle but the funny smell may be a blocked anal gland which needs to be expressed.
  24. Thanks everyone for your advice. I'll go ahead and administer the Frontline and see what the rest of season brings.
