  1. Tough times for the both of us. Godspeed Tornado!
  2. Coyote a Michael McCann aka Greydogs numer 40 something craigslist dog died today during a dental. Shock and disbelief are all I can feel. My Mom took him for about a year and a half and when I lost Rock Star he came with me. He was a gentle and personable soul. I will miss him terribly. RIP Coyote.
  3. My deepest sympathy! Cobb was one of a kind and will be missed.
  4. While all of our dogs are special, some on GT deserve a special mention and Gus (and you Ed) was one of them. My deepest sympathies.

    Fedx

Carol had hoped this day would never come with Fedx defying all odds. My deepest sympathies.
  6. There will never be another Bill. Rest easy buddy!
  7. Took Coyote in for his annual today and Interceptor is still on back order. She offered Sentintal with Progam (flea product) for the same price as interceptor but I'm nervous about this. I opted to go with Heartguard temporarily. Anyone else continuing to have problems getting Interceptor and does anyone have experience with the Sentinal/Program product?
  8. If you are looking for some greyhound fun join us for a Sunday morning walk (www.greyhoundadventures.org) or Trail Bound Hounds on Saturdays (www.trailboundhounds.org) in SE MA.
  9. Thank You for that article. Akons vomit was never bloody but undigested food. Interesting nonetheless. Thanks so much for the feedback. I am happy to say that Akons x-rays are negative and he seems to be regaining his appetite and keeping food down. He is only on bland food and pepcid at this time. Hopefully we are going in the right direction.
  10. So stool sample was negative for Coccidia and all other parasites (though I realize there are many samples that test negative and ultimately it is still a parasite problem) for both dogs. Lab work on Akon: Amylase was slightly elevated (sorry but I wasn't able to write the value down as I was driving) but not impressively so and his Lipase was normal. Hemoglobin was high (same as last week) and "typical for a GH". BUN was slightly elevated than last week but only recommendation was "something we should follow" over time. Next step is x-rays tomorrow to see any large masses but he cautioned me that it may not show things like cloth of grass. That would be an Ultrasound. Akon is not a chewer but will eat grass if I don't watch him. He mentioned an endoscopy for UGI to r/o ulcers etc... but I've never seen any blood in his vomit. As far as I can tell he has not vomited but he hasn't eaten well today. Seems Coyote wants Akons food and vice versa. Good spirits and energy. I told them that I would lop of their ears, take off their collars and let them out if they didn't get better and I got a kiss in return. How can you not love that?
  11. Thank you I will question her on that tomorrow when we talk. My friend use to administer the Carafate via syringe. It's tricky doing both b/c of the absorption issues with both (Pepcid and Carafate) and timing both to be on an empty stomach. Hopefully tomorrow I'll know more. I just feel for him. The interesting thing is that he hasn't lost any weight compared to last week when he went in for his dental.
  12. Update on Akon. After some improvement the vomiting has returned. I see fragments of Carafate everywhere. CBC, Pancreatic enzymes and stool samples are pending. My other guy who had been just fine until now has some diarrhea. (stool sample pending on him too). If everything is neg tomorrow he'll go in for x-rays to r/o an obstruction. Both my vet and myself do not feel it's that but just to be safe. He's off the Carafate and soley on Pepcid. He received a shot of Cerenia (anti emetic) to shut down the vomiting. He is loving the boiled chicken however and I fear will never go back to kibble. I should add that he seems like his usual self in terms of his personality and energy. Hopefully I'll have some answers tomorrow.
  13. Thank you for asking. Akon is eating chicken and pasta and drinking as well. Much more his usual self. Stools are normal and no vomiting. Still will be bringing a stool sample and following up with my vet.
  14. You know Michelle I thought of that this a.m. He did get into some rabbit poop in the yard a few weeks back. Interesting this is that Coyote seems fine. Likely I'll grab a stool sample and get it to my vet tomorrow.
  15. Akon had a dental on Tuesday and seemingly sailed through it. No extractions and no meds required. He did receive and injectable NSAID while under anesthesia. On Thursday I noticed black tarry looking stools and called my vet who prescribed Carafate and Pepcid. I should also mention that while I was talking with my vet Thursday he vomited a large amt of undigested food. Seemed better on Fri in that stool color was normalizing and no vomiting, but yesterday vomited large amts of undigested food on 2 occasions. This morning he's quiet and doesn't seem interested in eating which is unusual. Today I plan to try a bland diet of chicken and pasta and see if that helps. Any other advice would be appreciated. Edited to add that lab work at the time of the dental was normal.
  16. Akon is having a reaction to an injection of an NSAID during a dental. Vet has advised Pepcid 20 mgs but b/c he decided to vomit at the exact moment I was talking with the vet I didn't ask whether this is a daily dose or twice daily. Anyone know the answer to this? I'll also be picking up some Carafate today as well.
  17. Kyle, so sorry for you. Charlie was an inspiration to all of us.
  18. Kyle, my thoughts are with you, your wife and Charlie. You reached out to me when I lost Rock Star to OS and I very much appreciated that. I've followed your story with Charlie and I'm heartbroken that the outcome wasn't another battled conquered.
  19. Thinking good thoughts for you Kyle and Charlie. Have followed your story from the beginning and hoping this is just a bump in the road well traveled.
  20. Michelle 40 mgs is aggressive in my opinion. I start humans on 20 and depending on age and sensitivity would consider 10mgs. I would have started at 10 with Merlin and work up and level off at 20. In humans high doses of Prozac can be overly stimulating i.e agitation and anxiety so I wouldn't be that aggressive until you are sure he's tolerating it.
