  1. Sorry for the delay - dial up you know We are in Ohio for Chemo #2 tomorrow... here are some pics from the last week or so. I will post an update in the other thread. Here I am sleeping on my double decker bed... you know these are the best when they are doubled up! Here I am on my walk with my sister Bailey and dad Here's me with my cute tongue! Back at home... just hanging with Bay. Like our shadows? Then I decided I wanted to suntan - even though my mom said the ground was wet. But then a bug came - and I made my neck really long to see if I could scare it away But that didn't work, so I had to run to the back door and check if it was behind me In front of me... and even below me! It's too cold for bugs - why are they still bugging me! And here are some NEKKID Pics! My fur is growing back fast - but I am still nekkid - especially when I don't have a collar on - oh my. Here's a close up of my ... I don't know what to call it... And here I am again with dad - not nekkid, neither of us The end

Run free sweet girl. It was an honor to love you while I you were at Scooby. I pray that you are no longer scared, hungry or sad. Watch down on Talca and make sure she is living the life that you both deserve.
  4. Carrier Update Nov 20 Carrier is good, but I think he is bored of me. I have literally been by his side since he was diagnosed so I am trying to stimulate him outside of the home. On Friday he went for his walk, then on Saturday I took him to the farm to see the Alpaca's, donkey's and wooly bully bulls. He was pretty excited, but I could tell that he was a little sore, so we only walked a very short distance and then went back home again. On Sunday Tim and I took Bailey and Carrier to the pinetree trail - will post photos in the thread "Carrier's Progress Photos". He was running again, which was great to see. I did a short walk with him, while Tim took Bailey for the full trail circuit - they made it back at the same time we did .. okay, we are a little slower than those two Then we took Ella and Andy for their walk and by mid afternoon, we were all pooped. Carrier is eating well and it's been one week since his first chemo and he had no ill effects - thank god! He went for an adjustment yesterday - had a few minor things out of place, but overall was good. He seems more comfortable today from that. Plus, he was happy to see another human other than me. And he loves his car rides - he runs out and stands by the car and whines and pushes it with his nose.. stinker! Afterward his adjustment, I took him to the vet for a weigh in. He lost 11 pounds since Oct 16. I figure the leg was about 4 pounds, so I am going to try to get back about 3 -4 pounds on him. He looks good, but I want to make sure he doesn't lose anymore weight. Overall though, I think we are doing well. He is wagging his tail and getting up with the others when ever they do, so that's a good sign to know that he is alert and willing to interact with them. He is also still very cute, with makes things even better
  5. It's not fair...Run free sweet, beautiful boy. Take care of Raven - she needs you now more than ever.
  6. Thanks for the note Winslow - I responded in my thread "Carrier's Progress", cuz it was posted there too. We have a lot of things to teach these people eh? Thanks for the tips. carrier
  7. Hi ya Winslow, I have heard so much about you from my mom - well really she talks about you to dad. she says, "earmuffs Carrier" and then tells my dad things about you ... all I hear are words like "god" "freakin" "cute" - not sure what they are saying but I would bet it's nice. I stopped eating grass, my mom has been giving me the pills that they gave her for my upset tummy like you were getting before your meals and things have been good. I have had Burpdogs once, but that was a long time ago - I do remember them being really good - I am sure I can get my mom to get me some more. Unfortunately, my parents don't eat any of the food that you are talking about - they are someting called veeguns. What?!!! Thank god they haven't made us one of those things. The only thing we can eat now from them is veggies - I like veggies, but come people, I just lost my leg. Anyway, I am pretty sure my mom and dad will give me whatever it takes for me to eat and feel good. They went out and bought a bunch of kibbles - freezer dryer something - I don't know exactly, but it's good and now I eat it all up ... well, I do make sure my mom puts lots of soft food in ... and I have her preparing my meals in a ceramic bowl - stainless is so budget. I will make sure my mom reads your diary again to find the food you are eating. And make sure that she doesn't slip me any holistic supplements until after the chemo is done. Gosh, imagine if she started shoving these things into tofu - yuk! I did go for a walk today and mom said I couldn't do what I wanted because I "wasn't ready" - I feel ready - but I know that she knows best - so I listened. I know she loves me like crazy. Thanks for the motivation and support buddy... I'll be sure to give Dr Couto sniff! Later, Carrier
  8. Carrier's Walk Update Nov 16 quick note as I have to take Bailey and Andy for their walk now... I took Ella and Carrier for a short walk. I didn't have enough hands to also take the camera - so sorry, no pics - will get some this weekend. I took them to Carrier's fav trail. He isn't on a leash, as I find it's to difficult for him to keep a consistent pace when his collar and leash are banging up in his face. Plus, it's not like he's going to run away too quickly Anyway, I thought we were going for a short 10 minute walk - Carrier decided that we were going for a 15 minute run!!! It was 30 minutes by the time we got back to the car. Ella and I were actually jogging after him. And when I stopped him to turn him around to head back to the car, he started whining and resisting... but then ran all the way back - with a few stops in between of course to catch his breath and mark some trees. It was so amazing to see him so happy - ears up, eyes bright and just so full of life. He was ready to go further, but I had to explain to him that we needed to do this gradually - he disagrees. He was panting a bit, but caught his breath really quickly. He is now sleeping soundly ps - today is one month that Carrier was diagnosed - who would have thought that he would be walking today like he is... I am so proud of him.
  9. Carrier Update Nov 16 As suspected, he is becoming picky with his food - so his cuteness was bought a variety of food yesterday and had a healthy taste test. We got Evo, Nature's Variety Natural Instinct and three varieties of canned food. He liked all of it. This morning he had a cup of the Natural Instinct with half a can of soft food - we tired giving it to him out of a ceramic bowl and he ate his entire breakie. Not sure if it was the bowl or the food - but no matter because he ate it. He hasn't been sick and his poop is still perfect, so we hope that he will be clear of any side effects but they could start this weekend. I have been taking his temp and all is good there too. Yesterday, Andy started a Roo - which is totally unlike him, he has never done this before - and Carrier joined in. So things are slowly getting back to normal around the Andrews home. Carrier is walking really well and getting up and down the stairs without problems. We have a half acre, and yesterday he walked around the entire property almost twice! His fur is starting to grow in so fuzzy too. He is still wearing his doggy tee as he is stil interested in cleaning around the incision. I did take it off this morning to look at it and also clean a little under a small flap of skin to make sure nothing was going on under there. Carrier helped of course ... it amazing how strong he can be when you are trying to push is head in the other direction - little bugger. Today the sun is shining, although it's cool. I am going to take him for a car ride and a little walk on one of his favourite trails - even if it's for 5 minutes one way and back again - I think he'll enjoy being out of the house - as will I.
  10. Funny you ask that. When I saw Carrier for the first time, they explained everything to me that was attached to him (and there was so much, as you can see) and what it was for. Dr Couto called it an "argentinian prosthetic". He's from Argentina . He said, "It's all we could afford" Too funny... we were laughing a lot - it helped to stay positive But, yes it's a drainage tube and the little plastic ball is where the fluid goes.
  11. Day 10 Realized I had staples, so I thought I would try to remove them myself... Mom said, no you don't and that is why I look like James Dean in my t-shirt. Day 15 One day after his first chemo. We had just gotten home. Notice his new Old Navy T-shirt He is so handsome - I wanna scream when I see him... Love, love, love him!!!! That's it for now
  12. Day 4 - Going home. With Tim (dad) and Julia in the comfy room. This was the first time Tim saw him. They were both happy. Carrier says... Finally! The parking lot - no problems getting in. Make sure these people don't come with you!" Dr Couto and Julia Day 5 - sleeping Day 6 - sleeping and healing Day 7 Got my healing blanket - thanks Circle of Grey... you made my mom cry Day 8 Walking strong. Day 9 more sleeping and healing
  13. Day 3 You can see how much healing has taken place already With Emily out for a pee
  14. Here are photos of Carrier and his progress. Day 1 is the first day after his amputation. Be warned there are graphic photos of the incinsion healing but also really cute ones of his sweet face Scoll down to view There are lots... Day 1 Me with Carrier 24 hours post surgery - two hours after this photo was taken, he tried to stand up on his own Day 2 Eating his dinner Relaxing Posing Day 2 con't... Sitting Sleeping Hanging out With Julia
  15. Carrier is starting to turn his nose up to Canidae - he is happy with canned food (merrick) and I am happy to give it to him, but I wanted to know if there were any kibble foods out there that any of you were feeding. I recall reading that some dogs with cancer love EVO and it's good because it's low carbo/high protein. Also, I was wondering if the stainless steel bowl was throwing Carrier off. He will eat out of my hand, but sometimes won't touch the bowl. Any chance that the cancer/meds have given him a weird taste so the stainless steel bothers him? I am going to try a ceramic bowl to see if that helps. I would be really interested in hearing what your daily feedings consist of. I am willing to supplement and feed him anything - but at the moment, I want to start slow because I think changing too many things at once will complicate things. I also want to make sure that if he is getting sick I know if it's from a new food or the chemo reaction - so slow is probably best at this point. thanks.
  16. Carrier Update Nov 15 We got home safe and sound yesterday afternoon - he was so good in the car, sleeping on his side for most of the ride. He ate most of his dinner - but did leave some kibble. We had a restful night but Carrier woke at 6 and wanted to go out. Before he got to the door he puked. But it was a grass sausage. He had been taking the opportunity to eat grass when he could of the last few days. I was thinking... hmmm... I haven't seen any of this grass in his poop, so I wasn't surprized when I saw it come out the other way. he has done this in the past, so I am not too worried at the moment. He did go out and take a pee and had a perfect poop and then went back to bed. We woke up again at 7 to feed them breakie. I tried the kibble (Canidae), but he didn't want any, so I opened a can of Merrick French County Cafe - Duck. He liked this, but only ate the meat and didn't want any of the veggies. So he has only had one can of soft food this morning. I decided to give him one of the pills that we got from OSU for vomiting, nausea and decreased appetite (metoclopramide) just in case... even though I don't know if he vomited just because of the grass or because the chemo is starting to effect him. I also took his temp - 100.2 - so he is good. I am going to do some research on other food for him and have Tim get some at lunch time to see if Carrier will eat anything else... I can see him becoming a connoisseur of fine things Anyway, he is sleeping right now - fingers crossed that he remains stable over the next few days.
  17. Prayers and good thoughts to all of you.
  18. All of that sounds really good. Prayers for continued success!
  19. Carrier Update Nov 13 ~ 1st Chemo Treatment We are still in Columbus, as I am too tired to drive and Carrier is tired as well. So I thought it would be safer to leave tomorrow morning. He is passed out on his pillow here as I type this. He ate his dinner, burped, cleaned and rolled on his side... poor boy had a stressful day. Today Carrier had his first chemo treatment and staples removed. Everything went well - his physical exam was good - everything looks and sounds great... which is a good platform to build on --- oh, he just wagged his tail in his sleep - he he he, too cute... anyway, it's good that he is feeling well, especially now with the chemo in his system. He came out wagging his tail and of course looked straight at the parking lot... too bad it's under construction and we were parked out by the large animal clinic ... he wasn't thrilled about walking that far, probably because he thought I was trying to fool him... but... as we turned the corner, he saw two horses walking around! He stood so still with his floppy ears a high as they could be - still being floppy of course! He loves animals, last time he saw a Llama - that was funny. We will hit the road tomorrow - hopefully there won't be any traffic or weather systems. We both can't wait to be home.
  20. As I sit here in the hotel with high speed, waiting for my dear Carrier - I have finally read and watched all the videos and admired the photos. Winslow, you are an inspiration. Hugs and kisses a million times over. btw, how old are you?
  21. Sending prayers. When do you get the results from the aspiration?
  22. He does look cute in those photos! But gosh his skin looks so uncomfortable - poor boy. Thanks for loving him.
  23. It's true - you don't know my pain It's tough enough to even log onto GT, let alone download Carrier pics - that are so huge because his massive cuteness overloads them. I will get tim to download them when we get back - promise And for a little update... We got here at 8:45 in the rain. At one point in time, I honestly feared for our lives. I actually said, "Oh my god we are going to die!" I was passing a transport truck - and the backsplash made it impossible for me to see, but I had no choice to just push ahead past it - at one time, I honestly thought I was turning into it - ugh, my heart dropped. Other than that we made it okay. Carrier knew what was going on, so he was restless last night. Up every couple of hours. And then he wanted to get into bed with me - but I could lift him and I didn't want him to jump up - he still has his staples (get them out today).... so... I grabbed my blanket and pillow and slept with him on the floor - I see a pattern here.. hmmm.. did this last time as well, little bugger. Anyway, he ate his breakie at 6:30 and then at 7:30 we went to OSU - of course, Mister Charmer had everyone stopping in the hallways to pet him. His tail going bonkers. When he saw Dr Couto, he had a helicopter tail! I just got a call from the vet student - his physical exam is good - lungs sound clear and strong. Thank god! He should be done at 3:30 ish today. Depending on how he is doing tonight, we will stay here again or try to drive home - if it's not raining... I have precious cargo you know will let you know how he does.
