  1. I dropped her off this morning. Please send good thoughts. This is how sweet my crazy girl is: I fed everyone. She's laying there waiting for her bowl which never came. She didn't complain, didn't bug me, just went back to sleep. She is the sweetest, craziest girl
  2. I wish there was something I could say to make it all better
  3. Find an acupuncture vet quick. See if you can call around (perhaps the Chen vet) and see if someone will do housecalls. Don't give up yet!

  5. Sending lots of prayers! I assume they will be checking his throat too?
  6. I'd try a doxy shot and follow up with oral. They will know within a week (assuming if this is a TBD that there has not been serious organ damage). Quite frankly, who cares what the TBD panel shows if this works.
  7. Yes! At least 8 weeks and some people are doing 12 weeks.
  8. That happened with Max once and Dr. Couto intervened because his white count was normal for a grey. Max received the chemo. Email Ohio State and ask.
  9. Did you email this to Ohio State? What TBDs did they cover in a tick "panel"? Did they try a shot of doxy? Many times they test negative and respond to doxy and pred. Were he mine I'd do the shot of doxy with oral follow up at 5mg per # of body weight twice a day and see what happens. Also oral pred at 60mg devided in two doses of 30mg each. See if he responds. If he does not respond to the doxy and pred, I would suspect an immune mediated disease and Ohio State should be able to help.
  10. I have also used carafate for stomach upset with doxy. You have to make sure you give it several hours after the doxy. I usually give the meds, feed and 2-3 hours after give the doxy.
  11. Most vets dose at half dose <sigh> It should be 5mg per # of body weight twice a day. bold added - we do the same in Texas and they do the same in FL re dose. The Tick List is a good list to join (very active) Tick List

  16. June 19, 2007 Hi Diane, Busy busy. First, the swim: Saturday's swim went very well. Winslow showed me that he would turn for Roger, but didn't feel the need to turn for me. Ok, so we turned some, didn't turn some. Whatever makes him happy. As I told Roger, we aren't exactly training for the olympic 3 legged greyhound swim team. So, we all had a good laugh and Winslow did it his way. He came home and slept most of the weekend. He has another swim tomorrow. Now that Winslow gets the idea of swimmng, he's getting more out of it so I am cutting his swim to once a week. He's losing a little weight from all the exercise so I have increased his food by adding an egg yolk per day, 2 sardines per meal and an additional 1/2 can of food per day. Winslow is in heaven! He isn't under weight, but I would like to see him stop losing and perhaps gain 1-2 lbs. There is a scale at the pool so I can keep up with this. The weight thing is a very fine line. Not too heavy- it's hard enough getting around on 3 legs, yet not too thin because if he were to get sick, I'm afraid he would have complications and deteriorate quickly. Everything is a balance. We are still fighting the heat. AC or not, this boy doesn't like summer. He spent previous summers on the kitchen floor. He can't do that this year because he can't get up. So, he's on the bed, AC AND fan going like crazy. My electric bill is through the roof and I'm sitting here in a jacket so his majesty is comfortable. He's back on the night shift for walks. If I didn't know better I would think something is wrong with him, but I know him and this is the same as previous years. Anything over 72 degrees and he's hot. I think thats why he has taken to swimming. It's cool and he gets some exercise without getting hot. He's from New Hampshire. Loves the cold. No possibility of us retiring to the southwest. It's a good thing I don't bake the biscuits. There would be absolute mutiny if I turned on the oven in this house before November. Glynis
  17. I do it with a hose outside. Just run water on it (not real hard stream--sort of slow/medium) for about 5 minutes (10 if you and she can stand that long--I have never made it )
  18. I hope you will post in Rememberance and tell us all about her. I know how much it hurts
  19. Also carafate for his stomach. Did the vet listen to his lungs?
  20. Email me at Burpdog@msn.com. I know several groups.
  21. Well they can get prostrate cancer but if the are neutered they usually don't. The only male I've had with prostrate cancer was an un neutered Dobe male. Sending prayers this works!
  22. Did he have a urinalysis so you know he has a UTI? Austin could not take ceph. He could take clavamox and baytril.
