  1. If her stool is yellow, I'd do blood work and check to see if her pancreas is working right. Try boiled meat only--no rice.
  2. I think I gave Pablo (80#) and Tootsie (60#) one 3mg pill. Didn't work for either of them. Do you have some rescue remedy on hand? Works for some. We have herbs, special liquid combo, ace & valium and melatonin here to use
  3. This one looks very close to you and certified in everything from CHI: Patricia Jordan, DVM, CVA, CVH, CVT Specialty: Small Animal, Equine Swansboro, NC 28584, USA Email: seaasidenaturalhealth@hotmail.com Found this listing on another site: Patricia Jordan, DVM 13-E Doris Ave. East Jacksonville, NC 28540 910-938-4575 910-938-4513 Fax coastalcatclinic@hotmail.com
  4. how many? Adequan? You have to get a diagnosis first.
  5. I had to laugh I am past hikes. Well, you are too far away for a play date My guys would enjoy it!
  6. I have not had much luck with tagamet. It should work fairly quick. Can you get sulcrafate and add it? What about zantac (it seems to work better)
  7. With my old guys I've used low dose pred (10-20mg a day) in addition to supplements. When you say "all kinds of glucosamine" does that include Fresh Factors (which is chondroitin, from bovine)? MSM? Acupuncture and chiropractic help a lot.
  8. I know how hard it is Run like the wind sweet boy. Jodie will bake you a cake!
  9. Well, other than acupuncture, I don't know what to recommend. There are a lot of vets in that area. If she is already having bowel problems, I would not use rimadyl or deramaxx CHI certified: Jean Lamb, DVM, CVA Midway, KY 40347, USA Tele: (859)608-9761 Fax: (859)846-9546 Email: jeanlamb@gateway.net Clara Fenger, DVM, PhD Georgetown, KY 40324, USA Tele: (859)983-0737 Email: dfenger@hotmail.com
  10. The cholesterol rings are not related to diet. A specialist needs to look at them. Specialist said nothing is done for them unless they cover the pupil.
  11. Make sure she is getting carafate (sulcrafate is the generic) for her stomach. Pred will tear it up and that is probably why she does not want to eat. Acupuncture. What city/state is Olivia in?
  12. There were a few Dobes many years ago in TN that got it. Glad to hear her tail is wagging Have you tried boiled meat or rotissere chicken?
  13. Heaven's no! We don't know everything Wisdom is knowing that however much you know, it isn't enough. But I only helped put it together. Many people rallied to help (as always). Again, unsung heroes
  14. Sending many prayers for a successful treatment. Blasto is a nasty thing. She will do fine with one eye. My Dand had use of only one eye and you couldn't tell. They adjust well.
  15. SieSie had partial rings that the specialist diagnosed as cholesterol (not related to diet). She was on drops and they did not progress. Has the specialist seen this?
  16. Thank you for all the kind words No, it was Diana who caught Gus. I never would have had the patience I do so little compared to the others that move without notice, invisible to the world, doing good in adoption. There are many, many heroes in this arena. Many people whose names you do not know. You would be amazed at the good they have done, time after time, without any acknowledgement or pats on the back. 17. Chiropractic will help with incontinence. All my seniors have chiropractic treatments and this could be the reason mine have not had problems.
  18. First, rimadyl does not touch the pain of osteo according to Dr. Couto. You have to use a NSAID (if you choose to use one) combined with something like tramadol. Ivey was at 100mg every 4 hours before I sent her off. You can add morphine pills--no need for injections, to the tramadol. Also neurontin. I'd keep him quiet and see how it goes. If he is not panting when laying down, it should mean he is comfortable.
  19. I'm checking around. Do your yellow pages list any eye specialists?
  20. Does he want to eat? Bread at bedtime usually takes away the tummy grumbles If he'll eat now, give him a piece of bread and see if he settles down. You might want to take in a stool sample to have him checked for worms.
  21. Prices will vary widely and whether they come to the house or you go to the clinic affects the price. I have paid $45 in the clinic and $85 for home visit. Here is one CHI that looks close to you: Margaret Totten, DVM, CVA West Bath, ME 04530, USA Email: mtotton@gwi.net and Kate Steinhacker, DVM Specialty: Small Animal, Equine South Portland, ME 04106, USA Tele: (207)712-8134 Fax: (207)799-7605 Email: drkatehousecalls@hotmail.com Suzanne Haviland-Best, DVM Norway, ME 04268, USA Tele: (207)935-2244 Fax: (207)743-1667 Email: havibest@megalink.net Don't be afraid to call and get a quote for treatment
