    The Legacy

Tootsie: life can be fun if you find the right people and place. Let the past go and just love Mahogany: if you scream loud enough, they will give you good drugs Never could do her nails..... It's possible to love without touching....
  2. Supposedly starting doxy will not affect the erlichia test. Also, Dr. Stack says that they may test negative if they are in a full blown infection (those are not her words--I'll try & find them)
  3. Sending prayers. If he still has teeth, it's possible if they are that bad that one is causing it again since it cleared up after the teeth pull.
  4. Vets agree with me that there is at least one tick disease we are not testing for (because there is no test) There are a lot of tick diseases we can check for and are not included in a basic panel. Which ones was he tested for?
  5. Sending my sympathy Run like the wind sweet boy
  6. Switch the protein and see how he does. I think Kirkland makes a lamb. Remember, if you go to a grain free food you will be feeding at least half as much so it's not as expensive as you may think.
  7. Sending prayers. Jodie would get mini bouts of pancreatitis and she would not want to eat. I'd feed her when she was ready and we didn't have a problem. When Shadow has his really bad bout, we didn't feed while he was on IV fluids which was 2-3 days. (he wouldn't have eaten anyway). He went at least 5 days without eating then it was a real struggle for several weeks. I firmly believe acupuncture saved his life.
  8. January 29, 2009 Well I think we finally figured it out. If I open the basement door, the garage door and the gate, Winslow can get enough exercise to make a good poo in the back yard. All this without having to take him out on the ice. So, down the front stairs, around the side of the house, in through the back gate, in through the basement out through the garage, across the front walk, and repeat 4,5,6 times until he thinks he's had a good walk. He still hates it, but it works. All the cheering and the biscuit afterward will make it easier next time. Ah. winter. Glynis
  9. January 28, 2009 Hi Diane, Winslow is very angry. He had such fun bouncing around in the snow yesterday. Overnight, the ice monster came and turned his world to ice. Still looks like snow, but is hard, crusty and very sharp. I got up at 4:AM and while Winslow was roaching on his new memory foam mattress, I was outside in my jammies chopping a path to the backyard for his morning poo. I even made him a really nice potty with a chunk of his own poo right in the middle. Winslow doesn't like to poo in the backyard. To him it's like pooing on his bed. He wants to go over the ice, cut his feet, walk on road salt and gravel and fall down, just to get to his best spots, three blocks away. He is refusing to go in the yard. After he marked the new path, I showed him the "potty"..he just glared. I showed him the poo I put there. I even picked it up so he could have a sniff. He looked at me as if I was insane. I could hear him say, "How did that get into MY YARD? And why EXACTLY are you holding it under my nose????" Obviously disgusted, he came back in the house and DEMANDED LOUDLY to go out on the deck (covered with 2 inches of ice). When I didn't let him out there either, he humphed at me and stormed out to the sofa. We can't go swimming today, either. He is not a happy guy. I've had to remove all phones and computers from downstairs to keep him from calling GW, the SPCA, or you to come and get him away from his awful home. "They are refusing to take me on my walk and they put poo in my back yard!" I can just hear it now. Eventually, he's gonna really have to go and I made a really good potty for him where he won't hurt his feet to get there. I keep telling him that someday he'll thank me for it. He says, "yea, right". I hope this melts soon. G. They're taking all my fun away.
  10. Poor guy! Sending prayers he continues to improve with your TLC
  11. Trevor would pass out and I'd rush him to the vet and he'd be ok by the time we got there. I thought I lost him so many times If it is decided that he has LP, get some valium to give him rectally when he has an episode. Is it possible this is allergy related since he got worse outside? Or, perhaps the stress of moving him outside shut his airway down more? There is a way they breathe that sounds different than a normal dog. Kind of a very soft roar. Sending lots of prayers.
  12. Good thing they deaden (sp?) the eye One of the few things I could not watch was SieSie's grid being done. Sending prayers!
  13. Do you mean her BUN is 61? Did they culture the urine? Many times in the old ones, they have an infection and it just does not show. Regardless at that age, I'd just treat with clavamox for 10 days. Try meat, either plain or mixed with potatoes or pasta.
  14. The acupunture buzz Hope it continues to help him!
  15. I'm very sad to hear You can run like the wind once again sweet one
  16. Did the vet say they would disolve? Usually outside ones get removed and inside ones disolve. Sometimes, they can take months, sometimes they just don't
  17. Pannus can be cloudy also. It presents so many different ways! Have people checking in your area I'd just hate to see her go blind if she has a treatable condition. If one has pannus and it is not treated, blindness will occur.
  18. OK - we need to contact our Canadian friends on here. Here is a picture of pannus. It presents in so many different ways! Pannus is treatable, but you need to have a proper diagnosis. Some links to research: http://www.wellvet.com/pannus.html http://eyedvm.com/cornea_with_chronic_superficial_.htm http://www.veterinaryvision.com/public_forum/pannus.htm http://www.dog-health-guide.org/pannusindogs.html
  19. Your vet is a specialist? The reason I am asking, is to make sure this isn't pannus which can present many different ways.
  20. Were the cataracts diagnosed by a specialist?
