As much as I loved the volvo, the new hauler is nicer for the dogs. It has ac (the volvo had windows ) and windows - even in the roof. Plus it seems to be reliable. all in all I'm glad that I switched before my old friend decided to brake down in the middle of a drive on the Autobahn.

And the transformation has been completed. Boring mini van is now a sexy hound hauler

I nearly forgot. It's already february.

The dogs like the van style. I don't know what's the deal with greyhounds and sliding doors. We need to wait a bit longer to take long rides because first we need to get the gates fitted.... 1 barrier behind the front seats and 3 gates behind the 2 sliding doors and the big back door. Safety first.

After 13 years we said farewell to our hound mobile. It was 27 years old and getting unreliable. Man, did I love that old car. All my greys have been riding around in the back. Now we are starting a new chapter. Let's hope the new addition keeps up what the elk started...

What sweet memories

Thank you, everyone. Mooney is a sweet little guy. He can be super funny but also a bit shy and timid. He needs to meet new people at least twice to feel comfortable around them and when you leave our house, he will hide upstairs in case you decide to greynap him. He loves his greyhound friends but other dogs make him nervous. But altogether hebis a great boy, lovingly raised raised by his breeder who we will be visiting later next year.

There will be a calender but a bit different.

It also is a great therapy for insecure dogs. They develop more confidence because in this setting you habe to trust the dog to decide which way to go. The dog leads, you follow. And in return the trust your dog has in you develops, too.

It was a coincidence. My mum is a trainer for search and rescue dogs. When they had some teams tjat needed to pass their tests the judge stayed at my home. He himself is a trainer for tracking dogs and we talked about it. I mentioned that I liked it but didn't think itbwould be something my dogs can do. He said that every dog with a nose and legs can do this kind of work. You just have to find the right way to motivate it. He even took a look at the harnesses I use for long line training and he said they were okay. This kept me thinking and I joined a seminar on mantrailing soon after. Both Abu and Mooney had a great time. They understood what they had to do right away. We are tracking for a year now and even though both dogs have a very different way to work, they have a lot of fun. We will never reach the degree of official trailer because you have to pass a test with the police and they are very biased if your dog is not a typical tracking dog like a bloodhound or some kind of shepherd. But we habe a great group with different breeds and meet every friday with our trainer.

Mooney wears hunnyboots all the way from Melbourne because of his disability. He gets corns because he puts more than the normal 70% of his body weight on his front paws to counter balance his shorter hind leg. Since we mostly trail in urban areas he wears his boots to protect his little sensitive feet.

My mailman is amazed by the amount of christmas cards I get every year. Need to get him something nice for christmas for all his work.

You are right. This is Nika, a galga. Her friend Saami has died. Plus in october hunting season starts in Spain. The shelters will be flooding with galgos.
