  2. gofundme.com/n9wm4k thanks Maryjane-not sure how else to do it so i copy and pasted it.
  3. Thanks MaryJane i appreciate it! i see you are my neighbor, i live in Medway. fingers crossed for next week. i spoke to the Dr who will be doing the surgery, i liked him
  4. i think i have reached my saturation point, will do all i can for my Charlie. I left FB for awhile because i can't believe some ppl i know there have said nothing! I think i am being overly sensitive. As long as Charlie is ok after the operation March 4th i will be ok
  5. I'm barely functioning SPDoggie, This has consumed me, I have the best Doctors and contacted Dr Couto who agrees with the Vets @ Tufts. I won't rest easily until after the operation on Wed and he is comfortable and home. Charlie does not like car rides but will have to deal with this one. I try to take him on short ones but you know how the weather has been here.
  6. i love this guy so much racindog. I think i will post what his foster mom said. "Charlie was our foster hound before taking him three years ago to Massachusetts. He is a wonderful boy. Charlie had been mistreated and abandon in the cold Indiana December days. With the love of Barb and her family Charlie has come out of his shell from being a fearful hound. Please help save Charlie's life." Her name is Vicki and i love this woman, she has saved hundreds of dogs in Indiana.
  7. Charlie is scheduled for Wed March 4th for his surgery. The wonderful Dr Couto read Charlies files and agrees with the vets at Tufts. This next question is an uncomfortable one for me. I started a gofundme for Charlie as the expenses are high but worth itl How do i contact Jeff to see if this is permissable? I am hiding just asking this question as i never ask for anything. Is there a protocol because i imagine so many of us might need help.
  8. I finally got a call @ 5pm last night and rushed to pick him up. He is home resting comfortably. The good news is!!!!!! No tumor found on heart or in stomach. He is scheduled for the laporoscopy next Wed @ Tufts Grafton with a doctor who is highly thought of. The unsettling part is that he did have effusions in 3 cavities so even with the laporoscopy he may fill again in his lung area which would mean aspirating. IF this happens i don't think i would want to put him through this if it is ongoing but it is ideopathic at this point so know one can answer that. For now we are hoping he doesn't fill with fluid before his scheduled surgery. He is not fond of riding in the car and pants heavily. Tufts has saved his life twice now. They do not think cancer at this point but when the window is cut from the pericaridial sac they will biopsy it. Thanks for your support again!
  9. 3:30 EST and still no word. I did call, they don't mind that. I suppose the cardiologist is doing the echo and end of the day and not the morning as i hoped. I am picking him up tonight i hope they know. Every time i spoke to the DR he did say Charlie was doing well. UGH this waiting How many times can i thank all of you..... I may not get back here until tomorrow.
  10. I won't know if he has a tumor until later today. If not they said they could do surgery tomorrow. I told them i would prefer the non invasive type which TBhounds told me about I actually scheduled and appt with Dr Robert McCarthy who does this laparoscopy method for next week, Wed. The vet tech said i was lucky to get an appt with him so soon. Maybe it is a good sign. If need be i can cancel but at least it will only be 1 week away where Charlie had filled in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed it is not a tumor and we can go through with this. XO
  11. i won't hear until approx 11 am now. I have to go do some work unfortunately but asked them to call my cell phone. Again, thank you for all your good thoughts.
  12. thank you so much all of you. I suppose i don't need to tell you how difficult this is. I will let you know when i hear. Supposed to hear between 8 & 9am est. Hoping the cardiologist will see him early before his schedule.
  13. This mornings Doctor just called: Charlie will have an echocardiogram tomorrow which should tell them if there is a mass and a sonogram on his abdomen. So maybe? he will be ok? His red cell count is dropping but he ate well. He will stay overnight to be monitored. Prayers please. Maybe it isn't over- will know more tomorrow. I won't let him suffer though, that's for sure.
  14. I’m heartbroken. I had to take Charlie to Tufts again last night. He had fluid build up around his heart. I was going to have non invasive surgery to stop that. I am sad to say he has fluid in 2 other places. His Lungs and abdomen. I am waiting to hear from the vet whether I can take him home and have a little time with him. I write this through my tears and will try to remember that he was so much loved these past 3 yrs. I may not be back to this forum although you have all been so wonderful. Hoping i can have a week with him here at home or maybe more. He is only 5yrs old. :-(
  15. Hi MattB I have a Charlie too! He can be a little snarly at other dogs too. It has happened because he was attacked by two different dogs in a 2 yr span who were off leash so i can't blame him. He needs to know i will be the leader and protect him. I haven't solved it but i bought a muzzle which on one hand seemed to calm him. I only used it once though. Fortunately i didn't because he would not have been able to defend himself. So i am in a catch 22. Anyhow, i would redirect him and walk him in the opposite direction if you see him getting overly excited. I am not a dog trainer however, are you able to contact a positive trainer and get some tips? Other than that i hope you get some good ideas from other readers here. The weather here has been horrendous so i will try training and redirecting soon when the roads aren't so salt laden.
  16. Charlie Update: No news is good news! Charlie continues to do well and have no symptoms of his peri cardial effusion. He will have an echocardiogram on March 17. Hopefully nothing happens before! So far so good i am thrilled to report! Again thank you so much for your support, you people are the best!
  17. I am in MA so it doesn't help but i am sure you have places in Seattle. I am in a co-op which cuts down the costs since i feed two dogs on raw. You can't feed just meat alone. Dogs need a little organ meats, mine get oils and mashed veggies now and then also. Research how to feed raw. Do you have a pet retailer that sells raw so you can see ingredients? Bravorawdiet/calculator has an area you can put in your dogs weight and see how much to feed for the day.Roughly 2-2.5 percent of their body weight to maintain. I feed 2 times a day. Yes, i have seen it solve many issues so good luck with it and good choice. To make it easy on you at first i do suggest a complete raw diet from a pet supply store until you get used to it. Sorry this is hastily written as i just got woke up.
  18. tbhounds-he is acting normal! Eating well, running around. Zero symptoms! If Tufts has cancellations they will call me but so far all is well-amazing! We almost lost him that 1st night, he was in cardiac tampenade when he arrived.
  19. Sending all good thoughts for your pup and you!
