  1. So happy for you and Brynn! What a beauty, as are all the others. She looks settled in already.
  2. Hi Lukasmom How is it going now? You mentioned he had a Bortetella vaccine and then this occurred, could be related.
  3. Get large ones and take it away when it is small, trade off with a treat if you have to. When small-bite size-put them in the microwave for a minute or so. They puff up and are safe so no choking hazard then, crumbly. Just don't over cook, they are done when they stop "growing" I feed raw also and they get these on occasion no problem. I'm a worry wart too :-) Sometimes i break them on purpose and microwave them, they smell wonderful that way and i think my dogs prefer them.
  4. Welcome! She is beautiful! She looks like she could be my boys sister :-)
  5. I hope someone can give you an answer but my heart goes out to Clifford. It doesn't sound like a pleasant life at the moment. You don't want to know the answer as you said no diagnostics. Robaxin is a muscle relaxer, what does your vet suggest? Again, i hope someone can help.
  6. prednisone and NSAIDs both have anti inflammatory properties, maybe that's why. Someone will come along and answer your question who has more knowledge. Sending good wishes!
  7. Sorry Leo :-( Hoping it doesn't reoccur. At least you know what to do for him.
  8. Also ask your Vet about potassium Bromide. Your dog is young and it has less effect on the liver than phenobarbitol.
  9. It does take an adjustment period. i had a dog on pheno for cluster seizures and it did take a few weeks to not walk around drunk. In case of breakthrough seizures you can apply an ice pack on the back below the neck. Also after they have "come around" something sweet, not too much ( a tsp) such as Vanilla Haagen Das ice cream. It stablilizes their blood sugar and the ice pack lowers their body temperature. Do it just for a few minutes. I remember i had to walk around with my dog before he stopped stumbling after a seizure. So sorry you and your dog are going through this. My dog towards the end of his life didn't have any seizures. Not sure if it is because he was allergic to everything and i could feed him Venison i found out. He also got some local raw honey as he had seasonal allergies. He lived a long, happy life :-)
  10. Hi Dogs3 I'm with macoduck- Why did your vet prescribe it? For seizures? If yes then i have to go along Thefullhouse
  11. That's my boy!!!!! Some of you wanted to see a picture. You should see his eyes. the bottom pic is when he was still at the kennel. That's me, Charlie and Sharon leaning into me. This is the pic his foster mom saw and hoped i was the one who would adopt him. Although after 3 yrs he looks a little apprehensive to me in this picture but was fond of me by then. Sharon was adopted within two days :-)
  12. sending healing thoughts to Kasey, that harness will help a lot.
  13. dishes that will make her eat more slowly (name escapes me) You almost had it Tracy :-) Slow feeder bowl. welcome Jenzee-just follow the good advice above.
  14. Good luck XTRWLD, i will continue to follow updates. I am going through this with my 13 yr old German Shepherd. She still loves her walks and Charlie motivates her. Rhea is only on Rimadyl. The Vet hasn't suggested anything else to me.
  15. Through all this ordeal, if it can ever help another dog it would be extra special.
  16. lol Thanks guys and thanks for reminding me Tracy, i will write Dr Couto!
  17. 4 years ago when he came to the shelter he was slight Lyme positive. Never showed up again. At least this horrible situation is resolved with the window in his percardial sac.
  18. wish i knew how to do those dancing peppers! Charlies biopsy update! No cancer found!!!! It all remains idiopathic WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Only thing the Doctor said was i should bring him back to the cardiologist in a month because of an irregular heartbeat. Oy! I asked, wasn't this related to the cardiac tamponade? He said it was separate and Charlie has been a topic of conversation amongst the doctors involved. So, i will do this but not just yet. He needs to heal and go in the car to a fun place first. I hope to take him for a short ride to a park nearby next week. Not too many dogs and they are all leashed, it isn't a dog park. Thank you everyone for all your support XOXO
  19. Thank you Debbie! I'm waiting for a call back today for biopsy results. I haven't worried about it all week, today i am thinking about it.
  20. i can't answer most your questions but have to tell you this, i started my GSD on SAM e the other day for her alzheimers. Next day her thirst increased dramatically and she was peeing a lot! I stopped the SAM e and she is not drinking as much. It just was too coincidental to me. Not sure if it is related.
  21. You may not have written a remembrance thread but it seems you always had it in your heart :-) Beautiful girl
