  1. There is still a chance it was a brain aneurysm, which would be much better. Fingers crossed! But if not, we know and can prepare and can spoil her even more.
  2. SIGH..... Well, we heard from the neurologist. He needs to radiologist to review the MRI and confirm what he sees, but he's thinking it's a brain tumor. Sadly, if it is, we have 2 options: 1. Radiation. This WON'T shrink the tumor, but it will prolong her life. 2. Manage her symptoms... seizure meds and pain meds if needed. This plan until things worsen and then we need to make the "quality of life call"... I don't have a 100% on this is what's happening right this second, and to be honest I haven't even processed this news. My husband is picking her up at 4 today so she can come home at this point and be comfortable. Thank you all for the well wishes. I was hoping for a better result.
  3. HOPE is one of the best places in the northeast for specialty care. We took our Rottie there for her chemo. Just heard from the neurologist... everything looks completely normal and he flat out said she's a very healthy 8 year old greyhound. So MRI is next- only way to see what is going on in her tiny little fawn head. Hopefully we hear those results in the next 1-2 hours.
  4. No news which is actually good- they said they would call anytime if she had another seizure, so she did not have another one overnight which is good. Now to wait and hear from the neurologist.
  5. All checked in at HOPE. She will be seeing the neurologist tomorrow morning and going for an MRI. We said good night to her and she seemed in good spirits... the anti-seizure meds seemed to be working well. Poor baby has been through the ringer today.
  6. Just heard from my husband (whom the vet called). Seems she has started developing clots in her lungs which is most likely causing the seizures. Our vet is recommending transferring her to a higher care facility for this, so he is on his way to pick her up and will be taking her to HOPE for elevated care and plan to treat all this. When I hear more I will let you all know. Thank you all so much for the wishes/prayers/positive vibes.
  7. Thank you all for the nice thoughts. No news yet from the vet.
  8. Our poor fawn had 4 seizures this morning No warning, and out of the blue. Never had one before. She is admitted at the vet for 24-48 hours of observation and running tests. She's 8 going on 9 so they don't think it's onset epilepsy.... they said that usually happens by 6. Hopefully they find some sort of cause and/or anti-seizure meds help. If not, we may be looking at a possible MRI.
  9. Personally I’d go Saturday if you have a choice... a lot of vendors pack up Sunday.
  10. Wonderful! my gang and I will try and get there by noon!
  11. Great idea! I like the hammocks and harnesses.
  12. Holy cow! I'd have a hard time with those!!!!!! And forget after a few glasses of wine!!!!!!!
  13. The cat was in your yard, so though it's a shame it died, it's not your fault or responsibility. Another reason I've never allowed my cats to go outside. Our one grey was super quiet and basically depressed when we got him... he sat at the rescue an extra year???? No idea why. Now he's energetic, plays, barks and roos with the best of them... completely different dog. Personally I'm happy he came around. I'm not sure what to say about the nipping... our one nipped at people who came in "his room" for a spell, but he doesn't do it anymore. He was trying to herd people out of the room.
  14. LOL if I left food on the counter my cats would get it before the greys even got a chance!!!!! I never leave food unattended.
  15. Thx! I'll give that a shot. Unfortunately we have forced air, so it's the driest of dry air!
  16. As we all know, with the heat being on comes dry air and ultimately, dry skin. Just wondering if you all recommend any supplements for the hounds that's safe or a home remedy. Our one brindle in-particular has had bad dandruff. Thx in advance!
  17. I try so hard not to cry when I read these Remembrances.... What a total sweetheart. Thank you for giving her a loving home. I wish you had more time with her. Run free Potato.
  18. Happy New Year and welcome! My 2 greyhounds are my first. They are and have been exceptional dogs in my opinion. Sure they have their little quirks, but I feel any breed does. I will probably adopt more grey in the future... they are just wonderful dogs. As for info- find a local rescue around you and maybe stop by and talk to them, visit some dogs (offer to walk them and help out). I initially had a friend who fostered greys so I had met several of hers and her fosters. They were always sweet and quiet so I fell in love with the breed. PLUS I'm a huge fan of adopting animals that need homes. All of our fur kids have been adopted and all of them in the future will be adopted. Good luck!
  19. We usually only drive over for the day. Because of this we come Friday or Saturday. I don't think having vendors there all day Sunday is necessary.
  20. Not to hijack this thread but I had no idea dogs don't like direct eye contact. And I am especially surprised because when my husband and I do this with ours and talk to them they get super excited. The tails start going in circles and their ears are up, etc. All the "I'm so happy and excited right now!" signs. I'm not saying the direct eye contact is wrong, I'm just saying I am surprised to learn this.
  21. Mine were NOT happy the first time my husband and I went away, and it was 6 months after we got them. They were very upset and out of sorts for weeks after our return. I think part of it was the one was returned to the rescue before we adopted her and the other was at the rescue for well over a year before being adopted so I think there was some abandonment issues. Now they are fine when we go away, and we've had the same pet sitter for the past 4 years so they are used to her. Whatever you decide good luck! And glad to hear you are getting another houndie!
  22. I let them out immediately when I get home... usually they have to go go go! So they get fed afterwards.
