  1. Mason loved his Pro Plan and I loved it as well. We house sat and they had different food and suddenly his wasn't good enough. I changed foods and now I'm kicking myself because I haven't found one he has done as well with. I'm thinking of trying Pro Plan again. I'm feeding Fromm's now and he loves it but I don't love his poops.
  2. I agree with the others about talking to the Lexus Project (although I don't know anything about them except what I've read here). It sounds like if nothing else they may allay some of your fears. I think your building super made some good points as well. As much as I'd confront the woman it would just get her riled up and that would do no good. I don't know what kind of relationship you have with your adoption group. I have a good one with mine so I would call someone and give them a heads up just to let them know what happened. I truly think this woman is just flapping her lips and it's not going to go anywhere. I'm so sorry you and JJ are going through this.
  3. I'm glad she's feeling better. That looks nasty. I would have been hysterical.
  4. I can't tell you what to do but I can tell you what happened to me. I had my Dart for a few years and KNEW he was sleep aggressive therefore I never went near him when he was laying down (let alone even looked like he was sleeping). Nor did I allow anyone else. One night I was hugely upset and needed a snuggle. Not thinking, I went up to him and snuggled him. He reared up and snapped, biting my face. He got my eye and my lip. It wasn't nearly as bad as yours but it was bad. He scratched my eyeball and gave me a fat lip. I ended up at the eye doctor where I was SURE they were going to put him down. I was horrified and terrified. The nurse was very kind when I explained what happened. It never occured to me to return him because it was MY fault; I approached him when he was sleeping, something I knew was a no-no. I never approached him again when he was sleeping and we never had a problem again. Just a thought...Obviously this has to be your decision.
  5. Wow! That's fantastic. It sounds like they're really trying to keep people happy and perhaps change things. I love my vet but I wish they had done something like that for me when I had to wait 45 minutes with Molly (and her fractured paw). I finally had to ask for a blanket so she could lay down. The vet tech finally went out and told them (I could hear her) that we were still waiting. She was more ticked than I was.
  6. I wonder if she has just been through a lot; the move, the amputation and being boarded (in a new place no less) .Lots of new things for the poor little girl. Give her time. I'm sure she'll perk up.
  7. We went to our Meet and Greet today which is usually Molly's most favorite thing in the world. Today she didn't want to get petted, she was uninterested in the people and she was shaking (which she never does). She stuck close to me and was just "off". She's eating and drinking ok and peeing and pooping ok, but she's not herself. There were more dogs than usual but that has never bothered her in the past. I did a quick body check and the only thing I found (and someone else noticed too) was her front wrist seemed slightly swollen but she let me maniplulate it and would walk on it and put weight on it. I'll keep an eye on her this weekend. Her eyes are a little glassy but her nose is cold and weight. Her temp was 99.8 (I took it twice to make sure), so she has no fever. Any ideas?
  8. It happened with my dog and my friend's dog. I took mine to the vet. Apparently the flu can spread to dogs just like people. Antibiotics all around. Even the cats started to look a green around the gills.
  9. My friend gives her Retriever Hal (he's adorable BTW) a raw carrot as a "treat" everytime she leaves. He LOVES them. I tried it with Molly and Mason and they thought I was bat crap crazy. They left it on the floor and looked for the real treat.
  10. I was excited when I found the Himalayan chews and mine wanted nothing to do with it. I'm not crazy about bully sticks because I find undigested clumps in their poop. I'm concerned about broken teeth with deer antlers but if I were to try them what size would you recommend? BTW: Thanks for the site recommendation. I'm always looking for reputable sites.
  11. Molly's broken paw resulted in, not surprising, a pressure sore on her elbow. 3 months later it's STILL not healed. I've tried putting a shirt on it, leaving it bare, we've tried antibiotics, etc. The e-vet yesterday (when she was giving blood) suggested getting a shirt that would add more pressure to it (a special athletic type shirt-I forgot what he called it right now). I'm contemplating another vet visit because it's been getting more red lately. Any other ideas or suggestions? It doesn't seem to be bothering her; she's running, wrestling with Fred, eating, drinking, talking back to me , etc. but I think it should still be healed by now. TIA!!
  12. They made the decision for me. I opened the bag,as on stuck his head IN THE BAG and started eating.
  13. It's possible he was asleep. My rule of thumb is that I never approach the dogs on their beds to snuggle (I learned that lesson the hard way with Dart). I would suggest if you're going to approach Ernie to snuggle on his bed, or anywhere he may be sleeping, call his name loudly to make sure he's awake. Just my 2 cents. I'm curious to hear what other people think.
  14. If I change the flavor but not the brand do I need to do it slowly it can I just change it? TIA!!
  15. My foster Fred and I went to PetSmart today as well. I agree about the staff. All the Guinean pigs were sleeping so they weren't that interesting but he almost put himself through the glass to get to the birds. I'm glad your girl had such a good time.
  16. I have a foster boy Fred who's adorable. He's settling in nicely and has decided he's VERY handsome (we spend a lot of time looking at ourself in the mirror ). He HATES the crate and it beginning to get the hang of retirement and he LOVES his toys. I decided to try rawhides which was a mistake. Him and Mason (I know, shocking it wasn't Molly) got into over a rawhide. There was growling and Mason has a little cut on his nose. It was over before it began and I immediately took away the rawhides. Any advice or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Molly ended up with a pressure sore on her elbow from the splint and it isn't healing. We're starting our 2nd round of antibiotics but the vet isn't confident it will work (in fact he's pretty sure it won't but he wants to try all options before cutting). He thinks he's going to have to cut around the skin and suture it together. Thoughts? Experiences? Words of advice? (It's a good thing I love her... She's costing me a fortune and cutting years off my life.)
  18. I wanted to thank you for your replies and support. The vet was concerned because the swelling felt like bone so he wanted to get an x-ray (you should have heard that conversation since Molly is still recovering from her fracture ). No mass or tumors, he thinks Mason just hit it against something hard (I'm guessing his sister ). He's on NSAD's to get the swelling down and he hopes to NEVER step foot in the vet's office again! I have a reserved parking spot with a gold plaque at this point.
  19. We have an appointment at 4:30. The receptionist laughed when I called and apparently I'm now entitled to my very own reserved parking spot with a gold plaque. Between Molly's fracture and this they're killing me. He ran zoomies around the yard this morning so.....
  20. I just noticed this on the joint above Mason's paw, clearly swollen. It's not bothering him, he's not limping and he's letting me poke and prod it to my Geary's content. Any ideas what it is? Obviously I'm calling the vet first thing in the am. Thanks for any insight you may have. And a cute one of him roaching just 'cause...
  21. She's beautiful! Enjoy the new addition...she is certainly enjoying you guys.
  22. There were some pressure sores starting but the vet said they didn't look too bad (I think they look horrible). She-obviously-took the splint off. I'm calling tomorrow morning to check in and we'll re-evaluate. I'm guessing since she's really good about not putting weight on her paw we're just going to leave the splint off and let it heal on its own. She's on antibiotics and has a long sleeve shirt on her leg to keep her from licking. The good news is she got her muzzle off! This dog is going to be the freaking death of me. Oh, and she's down a couple of pounds!!! It's a good thing her brother, in the words of my kindergartners, is so "easy peasy".
  23. Since I switched to Fromm's the dogs seem to be eating more and Mason had been extra beggy with food, constantly looking for food and trying to mooch. Anything I should be concerned about?
  24. Poor Molly. I knew her elbow joint where the splint sits was bothering her so I called the vet and made an appointment to get it checked. I looked just now and there's something there (I'm guessing pressure sore). I touched it yesterday and got the GSOD. Just now she was getting off my bed and screamed and cried in pain. I gave her a pain pill to help. Anything else I can do for her until tomorrow's appointment?
