I am so sorry. I just could not believe it when I saw Fudgie's name in the rememberance forum. I've been reading about Fudgie for years; I feel like I know him. He will be missed. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Oh no! I'm so sorry. Sophia was one of my favorite GT greys. And you and your family gave her as much love as anyone could.

Tiffany was diagnosed with Erhlichia last year. She was 9 years old at the time and she had been mine for 4 years. We have lived the whole time in California and I had her on Frontline. Tiffany had no outward symptoms. During her routine check up with the vet, we decided to do a blood panel just to get some baseline numbers given her age. The results came back: low platelets. We went through a number of rounds of different TBD assays. It turned out she had a relatively rare form of Ehrlichia. So routine bloodwork can be an important part of detecting TBDs!

Bacci barks when I come home from work, when the dog walker comes to the house, or when he wants to play. If I don't get his more subtle hints (whining and staring at the back door), Bacci will bark when he wants to go out. He is silent when strangers come to the door. Tiffany barks when she wants to play or when there are squirrels or kitties in the backyard. Occasionally Tiff barks at dogs walking by the house. She doesn't make a peep when strangers come to the door. What greyt guard dogs I have.

I think that my vet charges a significant amount (for example, $220 for a dental). But I think that relates to the high cost of doing business in the SF Bay Area where everything is expensive. I don't think that he is trying to price gouge. I doubt that other reputable vets in the area would charge differently. I do think that my vet does care about animals and is in for job satisfaction more than making a lot of money.

I am very sorry to hear about Benny. Beagles are great little dogs. You really loved him and gave him 14 wonderful years.
