    Kylie

My heart aches for you and all those who have lost their babies.
  2. My guy had hookworm - gave him interceptor every 2 weeks for 3 months and it was gone. This was after drontal and panacur multiple times.
  3. Yep, contact OSU. They are the best and will work with you immediately. I just came back from there, I had a wrong diagnosis on my pup - unforturnately for me and my girl the news from OSU was much worse than the local E-Vet. But, to get the right diagnosis the the most important part and the Greyhound Team at OSU is the best!

I am so so sorry Anne. There are no words.
  5. Anne - This is greyt news for you. I hope Kylie makes a full recovery and rather swiftly. Summer is coming and she needs to go out and play!
  6. Pred increases appetite, but does not necessarily put the weight on. It sounds like in Beau's case he is hungry and gaining the weight. My female was on 100mg a day and lost 10 pounds in a week, and that was after eating 5 cups of food a day. She is on 25mg now, the appetite is still there although not as great as it was and she is not losing weight anymore. In my case she is low platelets, so we have to balance the pred with the platelet count, taking into consideration the weight loss/gain. I wish my girl had your boy's problem with gaining the weight because she is way down on the weight. Hopfully Beau will be able to go lower on the pred and you should see a difference in his appetite. Good luck, I know how frustrating it is to see them so hungry and you can't do anything about it.
  7. Sending prayers to Rudy. What Rudy's weight. The pred may make him eat a lot and lose weight quickly. It just sneaks up on you, so pay attention to that. The pred may need to be adjusted. By potty pads, as he will need to go out often and make sure there is lots of water. My Peaches has IMT, she lost 20 pounds in a week. Every bad side affect the pred can give she got. Her pred has been cut to 1/4 of the original, but she is also on cyclosporin, not to mention the hypothyroid. Now it is just blood test to ensure the platelets don't dropt again. Keep us posted on Rudy.
  8. My girl was just diagnosed with immune mediated. Basically her red blood cells are killing her platelets. This type of IM causes nose bleeds. In Peaches case her nose did not bleed and the doctor was surprised. Do you notice any bruising on your girl? Another sign. We have no idea how Peaches got this disease, just theories, as she is just over 4 years old. We will keep our fingers and paws crossed for your girl.
  9. My girl is on pred and doxy for IMT and meningitis, along with a slew of other things.
  10. Sounds like really good news and positive too!
  11. Stetson had them for over a year. We did drontel again and I can't remember how many times Panacur. I then switched vets, did Interceptor every 2 weeks, rechecked in 2 months and they were gone. Very very hard to get rid of.
  12. Good Luck Monty! Thinking about you all the time and wishing the best for 2009.
  13. Dr. Kathi Berman at Family Pet has a couple of greys. I hear they are a bit pricey tho. Another good vet is Higgins Rd Animal Clinic, not sure the location tho. A friend of mine swears by Dr. Barzek (sp??).
  14. Peaches came to me with a fuzzy butt. Over the course of a year her butt became bare and her hair really started thinning. We did the whole thyroid panel and started her on medication. After 90 days we redid the panel and she does have a deficiency. After just a couple of months on the thyroid meds she has a fuzzy butt again! My first vet said her thyroid was low but she didn't exhibit other symptoms (I begged to differ with him, she was very lethargic). He did not want to do the further testing. I changed vets and now go to the vet our adoption group uses. Much better results and she is definitely more active too!
