  3. Trish I will certainly pray for Lincoln. How are you and Tom holding up? Call if I can do anything. It certainly been a roller coaster ride around GT with all the sick pups. Hugs! Karen
  4. Sorry for the late update computer issues at home Marx is doing much better. The vet examined him and did notice that when he walked/trotted his right hind leg did swing out a bit. He did not have any buckeling or yelping when she was manipulating his legs during the physical exam. She gave us a 3 day does of drugs to see if that takes care of things if not she did suggest accupuncture (which I was thinking of doing). I am relieved it's nothing serious and he probably has a pinced nerve somewhere. Of course we will limit his activity and keep close watch. Thanks everyone for all the well wishes and prayers.
  5. so sad.....I am very sorry Pat. Rest well pretty girl
  6. Here we go again! Marx is still recovering from his dental last week,(he is so much better), but now has another issue. He is having rear end issues, especially with his back right leg. Sometimes not bearing full weight on it. His toes arent' buckeling (thank god) but something is definately wrong. His gait is off and he is having some trouble positioning to go poo as well as trouble positioning himself when laying down, he just can't get comfortable. So my gt friends like so many here my dear sweet Marx, who will turn 11 in March, could use some white light and prayers sent his way. His vet will see him Tues. morning at 8:30. I will update after the visit. Thanks! --------------------------------------- update: 1/23/11: Marx has not been doing well today, DH said Wednesday night he was up and down quite a bit, very restless. He is having trouble getting comfortable. I even tried getting him to sleep on our couch in the living room, all pillow are removed and a nice down comforter is on there to snuggle, but no luck. He is hesitant to jump up on the couch and once up there he is slow to lay down then doesn't lay down for long before getting up and getting off the couch. He does lay on the dog bed but he can't get comfy on that either. I'm at a loss for what the problem is. He is not yelping but you can see the look in his eyes that he is not feeling well. He is very clingy. Anyone have any ideas? Marx has an appointment for the vet Monday 24th ----------------------update 1/25/11-------------------------------------------------- went to see neruologist today, wow talk about an intense exam!!! Poor Marx Marx reacted multiple times in multiple areas upon manipulation. The vet was rather surprised. He is not sure it's a spine issue at this point. Blood work was done today and will have results Wed. morning. Marx needs to be sedated and have more xrays taken (his regular vet will do that) hopefully on Wed. as well. The scary thing of all of this is now the doctor thinks there is something going on with his abdomen I will discuss this further with his regular vet and of course the necessary xrays will be taken. Marx has been through it the past 2 days and is exhausted as are his mommy and daddy. DH and I discussed some things and have made some decisions on how far we will go with this. I absolutely will not subject him to any further manipulation after the xrays are done. We will not pursue an MRI (I know many with think we are not doing enough, but we know our boy and the stress of all of this on him out weighs everything else). So we are in somewhat of a holding pattern right now and hope to have many answers tomorrow. I am hoping whatever is going on can be treated with medication and he can have a full life and be comfortable. As for the abdomen thing....well...I'm not even gonna say it. Again all my friends and GT peeps please keep those prayers and well wishes coming. I appreciate all the positive comments as well as ideas from all of you. ==========1/26/11 update===================== due to a snow/ice storm vet closed early today. hoping to have them done thurs. morning.
  7. he is peeing a lot. finally pooped today. he certainly acts like he is feeling better today.
  8. Poor Marx had his dental on Tuesday, he ended up loosing 8 teeth!!!! It's been a rough 2 days for him. He will be on soft food for 3 weeks and not allowed to play with his stuffies. I feel so bad for him, he keeps looking for his two favorite stuffies He is on pain meds and antibiotics. We are trying to keep him comfortable without babying him but it's hard. I do have a question, is it common for a pup to have to potty so much after having a dental. He had one in the past and I don't remember this being an issue. He is going potty, not straining, but just needing to go quite frequently. Please send Marx healing prayers.
  9. and that's how it should be..... congrats on your beautiful girl.
  10. I thought the dermal hemangiosarcoma isn't the bad one and the subcutaneous hemangiosarcoma is the deadly one. My boy Marx (age 10) has been diagnosed with subcutaneous hemangiosarcoma. He has multiple lesions and one has become farily large near his pee pee. We have chosen not to have it removed because it is in a place that will be very difficult to heal and if it's deep in the tissue could turn into a nightmare. So we are closely watching him. A new lesion has shown itself on his ear and on his right hind leg. We did have a lesion removed from his left inner leg and it has not returned. Had another removed from his left chest (not clean margins) Of course there is a chance that this will spread to his organs but as of yet that has not happened. He had an ultrasound not long ago and all was clean as well as a chest xray that was clean. It is a scary scary situation and I am terrified that he will suffer from massive bleeding internally. I hope and pray every day this will not happen and that if things do spread we will let him go before it happens. I am sending prayers your way.
  11. OMG! I am so very sorry. I haven't been around much and was so very shocked to see this thread. All you can do is take it one day at a time, grieve when you need, cry when you need and laugh when you need. Time will heal your heart but it will never be the same without your beloved Gus. He would want you to smile as you think of him. He will always be there in spirit. Again I am very sorry for your loss.
  12. Alisha I am so very sorry Godspeed beautiful Paradise....you are now whole and healthy and able to run like the wind.
  13. definately have ur vet check it out. probably hemangiosarcoma. my wht/blk boy Marx has a few of them but he also had a subcutaneous hemangiosarcoma (cancerous mass) removed. ur vet can aspirate it and test for mast cells. marx's lesion was drained but came back. we had it removed and has not returned.

  22. most greyhounds that live with cats are fine with cats that are inside the house, however outside cats are totaly different and are fair game to chase/try to catch. Is the area secure that the greyhound has free roam (fenced in)? i think even the most laid back greyhound may attempt to chase a chicken. Deer on the other hand i think it depends on the prey drive of the greyhound (all have different prey drive hi to low). If the area is not fenced i would not allow the dog off leash. As for the house cats is it possible to put them in a secure room behind close doors when you are not home? Even if you were to muzzle your grey when gone they can still do damage muzzled or you could crate the greyhound when you are not home. Good Luck!
