Oliver looks like a bundle of fun! Welcome to GT and I wish you many happy years of Greyt fun.

Obedience training...meh. All I want from Wendy is very basic. Housebroken, doesn't dash out the front door, walks well on lead, obeys a couple of simple commands and is polite to visitors. I'm happy with my girl just the way she is.

Hello and welcome. So nice to make your aquaintance!

Tanner... Holly....

I am so very sorry for your loss. Your lovely poem touched me deeply. May your heart find solace in the knowledge that you and your Gracie will be reunited, as we all will, with loved ones lost.

Venus
in Remembrance
Venus was a visitor from Heaven. She's with the angels now. Rest easy sweet girl.

Wendy gets hers every 6 months. Maybe that's a Florida thing?

So very sorry. In the arms of the angels, Petey.

So very sorry.

It's like watching a flower bloom, isn't it.

I am familiar with the Diva DoGess type houndie. My Wendy does the prancing, the foot stomping, and the I-want-to-go-Walkies-NOW show. However, my favorite divaliciousness is when she hears the ice-tray rattle in the kitchen, comes galloping in and barks at you until she gets an ice cube. I must admit that the Momma and the Poppa have encouraged this behavior! What can I say...we are Diva enablers!

I have considered arthritis, although Wendy is only 4 years old. She already gets Miss Claudia's Get Up & Go magic powders.
So, corns can be painful even before they are visible?
-
Do corns cause on-again, off-again pain? And, is the limping typically worse or become noticeable after the hound gets up from lying down for awhile?
Wendy has bouts of lameness on her right rear leg. X-rays do show some calcification in the knee. She will be gimpy for two or three days, then be fine for months. Her lameness is more apparent when she gets up from lying down awhile. I'm wondering if we're not dealing with an incipient corn and not a joint issue. We're going to the vet on Feb. 6th and I want to have some basis to discuss this issue with her. I cannot detect anything on the pad, but my eyesight is supremely poor.
Any thoughts, advice, input would be most appreciated.

Put your shoes (and other belongings) where she can't get them. Baby-gate (or otherwise confine) her in a safe area.
-
Each time your pup jumps on you, immediately turn your back, fold your arms across your chest and remain that way until all 4 paws are on the floor. Your boy will quickly get the idea that jumping doesn't pay.
-
Histiocytoma? Have the vet check it out, just in case.

He doesn't want to be alone.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe he's lonely. Allowing Wendy into the bedroom with us at night helped with the early morning whining. She gets me up at about 6:30 a.m. for potty and breakfast and then we can all go back to bed.

I love to sit quietly and observe Wendy's behaviors and listen to her vocalizations. She makes so many sounds! More than any dog I've ever had. She's very good at making herself understood with her voice and body language.

Hi Shana and welcome to GreyTalk. This is a great place to learn about greys and share the experiences, joys and sorrows of being owned by this remarkable breed.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
-
So very sorry. Feathers or fur...equally loved, sorely missed.

Guess it's better than the folks who mistake him for a Great Dane.
Yeah, what's up with the Great Dane thing? Folks have asked me if Wendy, all 24", 55 lbs. of her, is a Dane.

Welcome Molly, Arthur and feline fur-babies. You are a lovely family! I am owned by a 4 year old, red-brindle pixie-hound named Wendy and two cockatiels named Sundance and Beaker. My hubby and I have been married for 32 years and we are still madly in love with each other.
So glad you have joined the GreyTalk family!

OMG, Chris! My poor Harley! The only advice I can give you is maybe see Dr. Sargent at Knowles. She's an acupuncturist. Gentle scritches for our boy.
Veterinary Doctor - Dr. Lois Sargent - You can read more about her on the clinic web site.
