I swear by Grizzly Salmon Oil for improving skin and coat. Might help him with his bowel movements, too. A great supplement for digestive issues is Fortiflora.

So very sorry. May your heart heal soon.

In the arms of the angels rest peacefully pretty lady.

What a consolation to see so many one hound homes! We have only Wendy right now, but I would love to adopt one more. Money is always the issue. Space not so much...these big dogs seem to take up very little space indoors and our yard is not huge but can certainly accommodate one more doggie.
<sigh> Maybe someday....

Oy, Wendy is always tearing her stop pad up!
-
Holly,
Gentle hugs across the miles.

It is ALWAYS a good idea to check with your vet before adding anything new to your dog's diet whether the animal is healthy or not. Wendy's vet thought I would be throwing my $$$ away on this product. Can't wait to show her the results.

I have been giving Wendy Proden Plaque Off for about a month now and I must say that the results are astounding! Although her teeth and breath were never terrible, the plaque she did have has disappeared. It just flakes off! I also give her raw meaty bones such as turkey necks and chicken feet at least twice a week along with Bully Sticks.
Here's where I get the Plaque Off.

Dear Holly, What a good and brave fight you and Outlaw fought, but every warrior must eventually rest. Praying for peaceful rest for you both.

OK, wierd. Can they get muscle cramps?? I felt what I thought was a "firmness" in a muscle, like if I had a cramp. Firmnesss gone, toes with a normal bend, no more chewing at his foot. No more trembling.
Thank heaven! Sounds like nothing more than a bad cramp. Scritches for you Norm.

Was he racing around right before this happened? Two weeks ago Wendy took a hit as she raced around the yard. She had temporary weakness in the right hind leg (a couple of hours) and a straightened out center toe. An x-ray revealed a flexor tendon injury. Nothing serious and no surgery required. She is fine now except for a weird toe.
I pray that Norm has nothing worse than this.
Could also be a cramp if he was zooming. A little massage will help.

Hey Holly & Outlaw. Just checkin' in to see how our boy is feeling today. About the wandering...our Ridgeback did that as he got older. Kind of a doggie Alzheimers. There is medication to help with the cognitive problems. Is Outlaw still on Neurontin? I took Neurontin in very high doses for Fibromyalgia pain and it made me kinda fuzzy-brained.
Anyway, lots of gentle scritches and hugs coming your way.
P.S. Wendy loves her new collar. Thank you!

Sending gentle hugs and scritches to Outlaw and praying for a good day and further improvement.

That sounds like it's working great for you.
I did see one thing on the website that should be noted:
Caution: Not recommended for animals undergoing treatment for hyperthyroidism
Kills trying it at my house. :-(
Yup. The main ingredient is marine algae. Lots of iodine, I'm guessing.

This is for the GT'ers who requested a follow up on Plaque-Off. I have been adding 3 scoops of Proden Plaque-Off to Wendy's breakfast every morning for about 3 weeks. BTW, the scoops are teeny, not even a teaspoon's worth of powder.
Anyway, last night I decided to take a close look at the girl's teeth (which were not terrible to begin with). There was some plaque build-up on a canine so I started to rub the tooth with my thumb. Lo and behold, the plaque just crumbled off!
This stuff works! I give it two thumbs up. I just reordered a bottle from Only Natural Pet and plan to continue to use this product.

When we first brought Wendy home, the house smelled like a sewer! Real paint-peelers. Our vet recommended FortiFlora. It really works...no more stinkies. You can buy it from your vet or a bit cheaper on-line. We get ours from Entirely Pets.

`Morning Krisitin and houndies. I hope everyone is feeling better today and tomato tensions have ceased.

Because it moves when palpated, I vote for lipoma (fatty tumor). My Ridgeback was prone to these and the vet would just aspirate them with a syringe. Quick & painless. Hope Miz Bee W.'s bump is nothing to worry about, too.
Kisses, sweet girl.
-
Too many. Too soon. Deepest condolences.
-
Thanks Doggfather.
-
Hope it's the same for Wendy
AMEN to that! The vet did not seem at all concerned and said that if it is a ligament/tendon injury there's nothing to be done about it. Hopefully the ortho. surgeon will concur.

One of our races has a toe like that on one of his front feet. Doesn't bother him in the least.
Was he born that way or did this develop suddenly? In Wendy's case, this happened last night. I'm guessing she smashed into something.

He knows he was loved. Sharing in your grief.

When my Ridgeback started with the oops-poops it was due to a major health issue that resulted in our having to put him down. Champion was 12 years old. Please take your dog to the vet. Praying that it's nothing serious.
