  3. I don't know anything about it.... just wanted to send you lots of :grouphug I'm so sorry.
  4. Oh, poor baby. I don't have any advice as I have no experience with RMSF, just wanted to send healing thoughts your way.
  5. Yay!! That's great news. Good girl Mahogany...
  6. I'm sorry to hear this. Munchie has had such a rough time lately. Sending healing thoughts your way - I do hope your girlie feels better soon. Happy birthday to Razz also..!
  7. Glad to hear it went well! She seems like a hardy girl! Sending good thoughts for quick healing... but somehow I don't think she's going to have a problem! :)
  8. Give yourself time.... be gentle to yourself. You're hurting so terribly now, but let the love that you and Otis shared be more than what happened on his last day. He was bigger than death, and what you shared was infinitely bigger than just his last day. Give yourself time to heal and soon the beautiful memories you shared, those moments that count, will come to the surface again, and that is how you should remember him... the happy times, a life shared. We're here for you. :grouphug
  9. :weep Scott what a beautiful tribute. I have been thinking of you daily since last Thursday. Hope you're doing ok. Thank you for sharing those last pictures with us... you loved your sweet girl so much and I can only imagine how hard it must have been to let her go. We're here for you. Run free, beautiful Tara Sue
  10. I'm so sorry for your loss of these two beautiful girls so quickly one after the other. Thinking of you and your family at this very difficult and painful time for you. Run free together, sweet babies :gh_run
  11. Aaww, get all better soon Echo! And listen to your mommy! No overdoing it!
  12. We get it at Pet Quarters in Auburn (which is a great store FWIW); I don't know who sells it in your area. Sorry I keep forgetting you're not in Portland! DOH! Oh dear am I going off-topic here...? This is becoming a Food discussion... I'll repost the food issue in another thread... Out of interest, has anyone ever tried to express their own dog's anal glands? Is it hard to do? I think I might give it a try... *eyeing Merlin's bum suspiciously*
  13. Thanks, I just watched that video, but why did they use a black dog??? Can't see a thing! :lol I really want to learn how to do it myself, since it might happen again... my vet is quite a drive from my house. Also, I can't take him to the vet today as DH has the car, and we're expecting 6-10 inches of snow between 10pm tonight nd 4pm tomorrow... so not sure I'll be able to drive over there tomorrow morning. I am tempted to try and do it myself... Thing is, I don't want to hurt Merlin or press the wrong spots... do you think I should wait? Christie - thanks for the head's up on Canidae. I'll consider it, especially since Merlin has a tendency to get flaky skin too. Where do you buy it? Fetch? Oh, and I think Merlin is getting fat on Nutro too! It's been worrying me for a while. I'm going to post some pics and see what people think. ETA: I put a teaspoon of pumpkin in every meal... and his poop seems quite firm these days...
  14. Nutro Chicken Oatmeal and Rice Formula for Sensitive Stomachs... I don't like it. I'm just not convinced that it's high quality food. He didn't do well when I tried to switch him to Wellness, although that was about a year ago. I was thinking of switching to Eagle Pack or Innova.
  15. Might this also mean that I should change his food? Been thinking about it lately. I just read an article about anal gland expression and it said it can also be due to soft stools.
  16. Ugh. This morning I was sitting on the couch with the laptop on my lap while Merlin was lying against me. I could smell his bum and it's not nice. Every now and then I got a whiff and phhheeew! Get away from me. About an hour later, I find a... wet spot on the couch where his bum was... EEEWWWW! :puke I cleaned it up but I have been sniff-checking my couch and it smells - all of it! Do you think his anal glands might need to be expressed? Is this something the vet can do? I've never had this problem before.
  17. It can take time for greys to settle into their new homes and their weight will eventually adjust. When we adopted Merlin he was, at 68lbs, too skinny for his body size and frame, and although he put a couple of pounds on here and there, it wasn't until 7 months later that he finally started gaining some real weight. At 78lbs, he looked much better. Be patient... you'll know when he looks like he's put on enough weight. If anything, it's knowing how to maintain the right weight that's difficult. Now that Merlin's muscle volume has diminished somewhat, I am worried about his weight again - this time, about him getting fat!
  18. Aaaww! Poor Joe! That looks nasty. Here's hoping he gets all better soon...
  19. Oh Diane, I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm still hoping it's not osteo... I realize that waiting 2-3 weeks is going to be hard... sending many hugs to you and Mahogany :grouphug and keeping my fingers crossed that it's something else.
  20. Ugh. Sounds nasty. Poor sweetheart. Hopefully Huston will be on the mend soon, now that he has those drops. Hope you'll be able to leave that cute schnoz alone! :goodluck
  21. Aaww!! They look so wonderful together! I agree with the others - this would be a greyt time to fail fostering!! They just look so right together... how lovely to reunite a family like that. *Hint hint nudge nudge wink wink*
  22. Sending healing thoughts for Mahogany. Poor baby. Keeping my fingers firmly crossed that the X-rays come back ok. And sending many hugs to you... :grouphug
  23. Sending healing thoughts for Shadow. I really hope his pain becomes more manageable soon. Poor baby. Glad the surgery went well though. Please let us know how he's doing when you see him again. Are you picking him up this afternoon?
