  1. Vet as soon as safely possible--it sounds like she's in pain from some cause.
  2. Good boy Monty, and enjoy your special dinner. I wonder if some yogurt would help his tummy deal with the Flagyl?
  3. You may need to experiment with different types of toothbrushes--dog tootbrushes, finger ones (the only one that works with Patrick), electric ones if the dog will tolerate it.
  4. Focus on the outsides of the teeth, don't push it too far the first few times, and reward her afterwards--it doesn't have to be with food, maybe a game with a toy she likes, or a snuggle on the couch.
  5. I'm so sorry--sometimes doing the right thing is so hard. Godspeed Morgan, you are loved.
  6. I've always had it done--standard panel as long as it doesn't flag anything, plus thyroid here (monitoring thyroid condition). It's not a bad idea to do once a year anyway, which is how often I do dentals.
  7. Sounds like the schedule change to me, and I'm sure he misses all the extra attention your SIL gave him.
  8. Glad to hear Nico's fine. I'd like to say maybe he learned his lesson, but in my experience that's never the case with dogs.
  9. Thanks everyone, I feel better. Basically she poked it with a needle and there was nothing to come out, like you'd expect with a cyst.
  10. Bread can't hurt. I wouldn't rush off to the vet unless anyone is showing symptoms. A quick web search turned up the *possibility* of the aluminum foil cutting the intestines, but if it was throughly chewed I doubt that would be a risk, but no warnings about toxicity.
  11. With all those meds, please check with your vet before giving him asprin. I know it's okay with that dose of tramadol, but I don't know about the others. My vet has recommended the people antibiotic with painkiller in it (OTC) for Patrick. I don't know if it really works, but might be worth a shot.
  12. If bitter apple doesn't work, make sure the wound is very well wrapped, and then covered with a baby sock. Then apply some tobasco sauce.
  13. So I took Patrick in because he has developed a small lump (the head of a large pin) in the skin on his head, it's fairly firm. The vet thought it might be cyst, but it turned out not to be. She's 99% sure it's nothing to worry about, and said if it were her dog, she'd wait until the next dental and then remove and biopspy it while he's under, assuming there's no change. That's what we are planning on doing (his next dental is in June), because I hate to have to give him lidocane and do the punch biopsy because I've had it done and know how much they hurt. Does this sound like a reasonable plan of action? For what it's worth, I really trust my vet, but I do tend to be a nervous mom about this stuff.
  14. It sounds like you have a great vet, with lots of experience with your pup, but I'll pray for Spencer and his nervous mom (I'm the same way).
  15. I'm so sorry--she was such a sweet girl.
  16. If he's biting at you when you clean the wound, muzzle him. For baby socks, we've found wrapping a piece of vet wrap around the top really helps keep the sock on.
  17. If you do use salt, wipe their paws off when they come in, to avoid irritation and them licking anything off.
  18. My vet did a needle biopsy, although given that it turned out to be a cyst she was 99% certain just from looking at what came out that it was just a cyst.
  19. It sounds like the only dangerous thing she ate is the plastic bag. Keep your eye on her for signs of distress--a painful or distended stomach, vomiting, if she's not pooping when she normally would, anything else unusual, and if you see those call your vet ASAP. Chances are, other than a little sick from eating that much, she'll probably be fine. I swear these dogs are part goat sometimes.
  20. What I was going to say. Also maybe an x-ray at the next dental?
  21. I wonder if it's a sebacious cyst? Patrick got one between his toes that looked a lot like that when it flared up. We left it alone until it became painful, then had it removed (they're not a problem unless they're bothering the dog). It looks like it has flared up, so I would ask for an anti-inflamatory because it may be hurting him, I've always found deramax to work well.
  22. Aww, Flashy, I'm sorry. Tell your mom that ice cream is good for sore mouths.
  23. Hoping for the best along with you, but I would definitly have whatever it is tested. My vet says anything that comes off a dog, should be checked, just in case.
  24. The years Patrick's had this problem, I have rubbed udder cream into his paws every night, which has worked really well.
