  1. Glad to hear about Casper's progress. Katie had her drain tube removed tonight. She'll continue to wear a t-shirt in case the drain incision weeps on occasion (it should close up in 3 days). Amicar will be discontinued either Saturday night or Sunday morning. Overall she's coming along. Sutures will come out on day 14 (15 July) with her first chemo administered that day, too.
  2. we took katie in to our vets yesterday evening for reassurance that the amount of bruising we're seeing is typical. after being examined katie tried to quickly walk out to the check-out area. she's starting to show interest in the baby food we've been giving her by eating it on her own, and not relying on us to force-feed her.
  3. Huh. Katie decided to get up off her mattress without any assistance. Then, while we're standing outside on the front lawn, she laid down twice and got up once without help. Right now she's dozing. Huh. Katie decided to get up off her mattress without any assistance. Then, while we're standing outside on the front lawn, she laid down twice and got up once without help. 4. i received a picture from our daughter that she took of katie standing in her dog run while wearing the cone of shame a half-hour ago.
  5. katie got out of surgery a little over an hour ago. she was trying to stand up already, our daughter said (she works at the vet practice where katie's surgery was performed). we plan on bringing her home tonight when our daughter gets off work at the vet's.
  6. here's a picture of katie that i took this afternoon after she ate dinner. she wanted to go outside and walk a lot today, even though she's not supposed to.
  7. katie had her final pre-sx rads taken today. chest rads still show no visible lung mets. the proximal humerus is a little more rough-looking. sx still scheduled for this coming monday.
  8. katie's FNA did not happen. based on the shoulder rads that were taken last week the oncologist thought there might not be a thin spot in the proximal humerus where she could insert a needle. so she did an ultrasound of the bone and she was right -- the bone hadn't eroded enough yet. we're taking that as a good thing. she explained that the FNA would only tell us whether it was a sarcoma or not -- not the type of sarcoma. final pre-sx rads will be taken this friday, with sx scheduled for next monday.
  9. hey, everyone. i'll post updates on how our katie is doing. this afternoon she goes in for an FNA. final pre-sx rads are scheduled for this friday. surgery is scheduled for next monday. a friend of ours is coming by this thursday to measure our front steps so he can build a ramp.
  10. sadie has been receiving cold laser treatments. while she still occasionally yelps while lying down and asleep (i think while lying on her left side and draping her neck over her bolster bed -- i haven't actually seen it because it has happened while we were in separate rooms, and by the time i get to her she's already sitting up), the treatments have helped a lot.
  11. yes, happy first gotcha day, crystal. it was luck that i got those pictures of you on your fun run last year.
  12. if you have an idea of what month and year her retirement day was, let me know. i've photographed almost all of their retirement days for the past two years, but not the last two. in the meantime, i'll browse through my galleries.
  13. did she come from fastfriends? i might have a retirement day picture of her.
  14. sorry for your loss, wendy.
  15. such a special girl. i'm so sorry for your loss.
  16. cindy, i am stunned speechless and so sorry to read about zoe. i'm glad i got the opportunity to photograph her for you last year. my thoughts are with you at this time.
  17. sorry, robin. i'm without words. hugs to you, rich, and to your pack. i'm glad i got to meet her.
  18. as i wrote to you earlier, i'm so sorry about mandy's passing. it was a privilege for me to meet both you and her, as she was the only near relative of any greyhound we've adopted over the past 20 years that i've ever met. even though we've only seen each other -- what, four times? -- i always looked forward to seeing the two of you. her bunny-soft neck fur was incomparable: i was glad that she let me rub my face in it. and her ears were amazing. i don't mind you sharing the picture i took of mandy at GIG earlier this year. i like your "walking in the woods" picture better than mine, actually. although not as many as you must surely have, i have good and fond memories of her. rest well, mandy, and be whole. one day, mandy, you'll get to meet sadie and she'll try to get you to play with her.
  19. sadie does this. and, as an added bonus, she stalks me if i look at her funny.
  20. hey, debbie! i just saw your thread; it's nice to see you're here. hope to see you again at a retirement day soon.
  21. cindy, i'm so sorry to hear that his day has come. thank you for giving him the life he surely deserved, and thank you for introducing him (as well as dante, zoe, maverick, and goose) to me and letting me photograph all of them at gettysburg.
  22. lookit that face and ears! welcome to GT!
