  1. she has one set of piercing eyes...
  2. we have three girls (ages 12, 5, and 4) and one five-month-old kitten in a 1625 sq foot house. for the most part they are low-key in the house, but one of the two younger greys does have her moments every day when she feels the need to run around the house ("zoomies", they're called). they've been cat-tested by the adoption group we deal with, and were considered cat-safe, but we keep a close eye on them since we've taken in the kitten. nikki and katie don't pay too much attention to him, but sadie has chased him around and play-bowed to him because she wanted to play, but the kitten doesn't understand that. we walk them twice a day (15-20 minutes), and at lunchtime if i have time to spare since i work at home. the books referred to are good sources of information. be sure to give the adoption group you deal with all the information you can about your wants, needs, or limitations. that'll help them to find the best match possible for you. go out to some meet-and-greets that adoption groups do if you haven't already. good luck!
  3. all of the greys we've had so far have had them...
  4. glad to read about her improving platelet count...
  5. am encouraged reading about penny's progress. keep it going!
  6. welcome from southern california! i have three grey girls: nikki, sadie, and katie. as you can tell, GT'ers like pictures of greyhounds, so i'm looking forward to seeing yours.
  7. welcome from southern california! your fran has such a black face it reminds me of how black our sadie's face was when we got her over three years ago (the picture of her in my sig is how she currently looks). we've toted our three girls around in a toyota previa minivan...
  8. welcome from southern california! and happy fifth from nikki, sadie, and katie!
  9. welcome from southern california! white greys are my favorite...
  10. welcome from southern california.
  11. ahhhh...white greyhounds, with or without added color, are my favorite...
  12. oooo...that second picture from the top of andy looking at the camera...classic stink-eye.
  13. definitely have your former vet or practice send beck's complete chart and any x-rays to your new vet or practice. it's a little disturbing your former vet didn't review the x-rays with you.
  14. welcome! that's quite a pack you have!
  15. if you don't see the fleas themselves, you can look for what appear to be very tiny black specks (like black dirt or pepper) on the skin where your grey scratches or bites. the specks are flea poop. a good place to look for it is on the back of the dog just forward of where the tail joins the body.
  16. the picture of igby in the toy-lined crate reminds me of when our katie did that after she first got home. all that stopped when she decided she didn't need to stay in the crate any longer!
  17. hey paula, it's nice to see you again every once-in-a-while. i'll pass along your greetings to gayle and rach. gayle's planning on being at solvang in '08. steve thanks again to everyone's welcome to gt... steve
  18. what a great-looking guy! i love the b&w image and the composition... steve
  19. greytmonty, thanks for checking out my greyhound pictures. katie is really good-loooking (but they all are). i was lucky enough to have her picture included in the celebrating greyhounds 2007 desk calendar. now...if she can be chosen to for the wall calendar for '08, that'd be cool. steve
  20. thanks, brandy. i want to scan some photos i took of alex and post them to my gallery, also. he was a black-ticked white greyhound, and had one black eyebrow over each eye, so he was unique. but, i have seen a couple of other white greys with a semblance of eyebrows also, so maybe it's not as rare as i had thought. steve
  21. i live in torrance, ca. our family is owned by three girls: nikki, who's 11 (turns 12 in may), sadie, who'll be five this month, and katie, who turned four last month. we've had greyhounds in the household since 1993, starting with alex who came from the group now known as gac. the girls all came from gpa/oc&gla. because of alex, we'll always have a greyhound in the house. my hobby is photography, so i'm always taking pictures of our greys (and other people's, too). you can see them at my smugmug gallery: mralexthedog.smugmug.com (click on the 'greyhounds' featured gallery). i also have a gallery of pictures taken at last month's wcgg at solvang (click on the '2007 west coast greyhound gathering' featured gallery). that's it for now from me. take care. steve
