  1. Welcome from just up the road in Wilmington!!! Raelen is a real cutie! Let me know if you'd like to get together for a play date. Kathy

    Red Diplomat

Godspeed Diplomat, run with all the angels that have gone before you.
  3. Thank you so much for taking the time to put all this info together in such a concise manner!
  4. Your post was in fine English! I'm so sorry she had an injury between her toes and I hope it heals quickly. He leg looks good and I hope it gets better too.
  5. I'm so sorry to hear about Festus, I was hoping for much better news for the 2 of you. Please give him lots of gentle ear skritches from me and my gang and know you will be in my thoughts.
  6. I know I've read on here from other GT'ers that there is a sling/harness contraption that you can get that helps them with their rear end weakness. It's certainly not a cure but it may help with her mobility.
  7. Thank you Ducky for going above and beyound for Mary and her family. I'm so glad they will have her home with them in the end. Despite the way the general public views ACO's and animal shelters, they are by and large very decent, underpaid folks who love animals. I will certainly send a thank you to Shelly for her most generous act of kindness to a dog and a family she didn't even know.
  8. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and Bailey. Please don't think that you did anything wrong, all you did was love her and she knows that. The best gift we can give them, the freedom from pain, is the hardest thing any of us has to do. Godspeed Bailey, you were very much loved and will be very much missed.
  9. Your Spriet is adorable!!! I'm so glad to see she's using the leg when she's walking and I had to laugh when I was watching her try to figure out how to balance herself with that big old cast on when she was trying to roach : ) Gentle hugs to Spriet and I hope you'll continue to keep us updated on how she's doing.

    Walter Roick

What a very special boy, thank you for sharing your fond memories of him with all of us. Godspeed Walter!
  11. Best wishes to Spriet for a quick recovery. I second the sweatpant idea because it worked very well for one of mine. Also, over here our newspaper comes in a plastic sleeve every day and they worked great to slide on over the cast for potty breaks.

    Chief Adam

Becky, Chris and I are so sorry to hear about Chief. I know how much you loved him and what a character he was. You gave him a wonderful home, I'm just sorry he didn't have more time with you. Kathy
  13. I'm so sorry for your loss. Arco was one beautiful fellow. Godspeed Arco.
  14. I have also used Previcox without any problems. Babette was on it for several weeks after her ortho surgery and my vet suggested adding some milk thistle to her diet while she was on it to help protect her liver. The Previcox worked well and lab work showed no change in liver values after using it.
  15. Just checking in to see how Spriet is feeling today. I hope the swelling has gone down in her foot and she's able to walk on her leg now.
  16. My Babette had a broken hock that was just wrapped and not set at all. When we adopted her she always ran on 3 legs around the back yard but would walk on all 4 around the house. A year later that joint subluxed and we had to have ortho surgery where they placed a plate and several screws to hold the joint together. She still runs on 3 despite the fact that the joint is probably stronger then it's ever been. I think it's probably just a habit she's gotten in to more then anything else.
  17. My Aggie, who turned 13 in December has lost some weight too. She just had a dental, lost no teeth and her blood work was fine. She eats 4 cups a day plus treats, runs top speed down the back yard, play bows to me all the time and generally acts like she's 3 instead of 13!! Losing weight must just be a sign that she's getting older in years, but certainly not in spirit!
  18. How about a long sleeved T-shirt? You could tape it closed at the foot and then just tie the body up in a knot. that worked well for me once but it doesn't sound like my girl is as determined as yours!
  19. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Magnus and thank you for posting. My "old man" loves to sleep next to our bed with his legs underneath it. He's also terrified of thunderstorms so it's very possible he could do the same thing. Not to hijack this thread but thank you for the camera club suggestion, I had the president call me and she wants to do the pictures!!! Hugs to the pups Kathy
  20. My thoughts will be with you and Beecher as you both go on this journey.
  21. My foster just had a wound that was very similar in size. I washed it with antibacterial soap and used bacitracin ointment and had it just about healed up when she decided to spend some time licking it. A dime sized skin break then turned in a quarter going on fifty cent piece!! It was my fault for not thinking about it but I should have put a T shirt on her before she got to it. If you can keep it covered hopefully you can avoid my mistake.
