  1. I had been wondering the same thing about Holly. I kept thinking she was getting more spots both on her hair and on her belly. I thought it was just my imagination. I didn't notice it with my other white grey. Kim, Silver and Holly
  2. Oh no! Poor Blue! Continued prayers for Blue and his family. Kim, Silver and Holly
  3. Sending lots of prayers! We seriously considered Blue when we got our other grey last summer. He is a nice dog. Kim, Silver and Holly
  4. My brother has Boxers and I think they are a great breed. Before we adopted our first grey it was a toss up between getting a Boxer or adopting a grey. His Boxer is very possessive if my brother so the only time we have an issue with his Boxer is if one of my dogs gets too close to my brother. My one grey and the Boxer play in the yard together (supervised) and seem to get along. My grey Holly seems to not like the Boxer and can be a little snippy but that is her as much as the Boxer. I really think it just depends on the dog's upbringing.
  5. Our Lucky went to the Bridge one year ago today. She too had osteo in the shoulder. I know she will meet your Scooter at the Bridge. Hugs and prayers, Kim
  6. Remembering Lucky today. She was our first grey and she turned out to be a bit of a spook. We loved her anyway. We worked hard to make her comfortable in our family. She loved DH and he was the only one she really let into her heart - she trusted him completely. I think she wanted to trust other people and to be petted and loved on but she was just too unsure. Our love for her resulted in us chipping and getting Silver. Silver and Lucky became buddies - they needed each other. I think they gave each other confidence. Sadly she developed bone cancer and at just 5 years old we had to send her to the Bridge. I have helped several of my dogs to the Bridge and while sad, they had lived long, long lives and I was able to accept their passing. Lucky was so young and her disease so unexpected. I find myself still crying over our loss of her. But I try to remember the good times. She LOVED her stuffies and really knew how to play with them. I can still see her tossing them in the air and chasing them around. Her counter surfing drove me crazy but I had to admire her skill. She had it down to a science! Thanks to her we fell in love with greyhounds and her legacy will be the other hounds we adopt. She started it all for us and will always be remembered in each new grey we get. We miss you Lucky! Kim, Erik, Tyler , Zac and Silver
  7. I'm sorry. Hugs and prayers, Kim, Silver and Holly
  8. Thanks. I'll hold off on the Immodium at this point since he just started and I won't feed him tonight (that is not going to go over well with Silver!). I've got some acidolphillus - should I give him that? Thanks for your help!
  9. Silver has the Big D, poor baby. Just started this afternoon (thank goodness because I was gone all morning). He weighs 85 lbs - how much can he have? An adult dose? Thanks! Kim
  10. Just saw this thread. I am soo sorry for all you and your pup have been going through. If you haven't joined Circle of Greys, check it out. It is a wonderful site (as is this one!) when you are dealing with a sick pup. I had many questions when my pup had osteo and I wasn't getting the answers from my vet - Circle of Greys and GT were so helpful. Make sure Mattie is getting good pain control! Hugs and prayers for you both, Kim, Silver and Holly
  11. Saying a prayer and sending hugs! Hang in there! KIm
  12. Susan, So sorry to hear of your loss. Hugs, Kim, Silver and Holly
  13. Lucky and with her favorite person, Erik. Sitting by the pool on Christmas Eve 2006. She died March 10, 2007 after a 6 month battle with OS. She was much too young and we still miss her. She was our first grey. Lucky to be here 6/4/01 - 3/10/07
  14. Hugs to you and Beecher. Kim, Silver and Holly
  15. I read one time that a grey owner whose dog didn't play actually got down on all fours and tried to "show" the hound what to do. I believe it eventually worked. Maybe getting together with a grey that does play and could show her how! How long have you had your pup? I could be she is still not "comfy" yet and will eventually play in time when she feels more at home. Good luck! Kim, Silver and Holly
  16. We opened the rest of our SS gifts on Christmas morning. Holly and Silver LOVE the cookies and the toys! Holly carries her toy around the house - I think it might have replaced Barney which is what she used to carry around! Silver was sooo much fun to watch - that boy knows how to open presents and seems to have such fun doing it! I love the candle, t-shirt and look forward to making the pie! I'll post pictures soon. Thanks again! Kim, Silver and Holly PS - I used to pass the bakery that you got the dog biscuits from when we lived in that area and I never got around to stopping in. My dogs had to move to PA to get dog biscuits from a place that used to be 10 minutes from our house! I found it ironic that you are from the area that we just moved from!
  17. Thanks for all your hard work! I had a great time with the Secret Santa!
  18. This was our first year and we had sooo much fun! I've really needed the distraction that it offered. Kim
  19. I told myself we would wait until Christmas, but then when the package arrived I thought there was no way I could wait until Christmas - I was having a hard time waiting for DH to come home! Finally though, each pup opened one gift and the others are under the tree until Christmas. It is soooo hard to wait but opening one gift helped!
  20. Susan and Dita, I'm glad you liked everything! I had such fun getting it together! I hope you and Jonathan feel better soon! Hugs to all and Merry Christmas! Kim, Silver and Holly
  21. I'm sorry Linda. We went through it with Lucky last winter. Hugs to you both, Kim, Silver and Holly
