    Little Millie

Oh no, my heart sank when I aw her name here. I loved hearing about Mille and Roman, she will be missed by many. Millie go find your brother Hot Rod.
  8. I agree with this and in the next couple of days I will be feeding this to MaDdie . Maddie 11.5 years old and eats 2.5 cups of kibble 2 time a day along with her treats. She is 2 pounds less what she was racing at. I normally like to keep her within a few pounds but she cod stand to use 1 or 2 pounds more. I wish I had her metabolism.
  9. Ask your vet if they have the specimen cups for Urine. When Maddie had her UTI a few weeks ago, I had the little glad plastic cups and stuck it under her while she was going and it was fine. She did not pee on my hand. LOL. The vet gave me one of the speciment cups for the next test as the glad plastic cup may have contaminants on it. Their cup was sterile.
  10. Congrats. I was wondering who adopted this pretty girl when I saw she was adoption pending.
  11. Maddie never goes in the house and when shedoes it is because she has a urinary tract infection. She has one right now and when she had an accident, I got a sample and took it to the vet and they confirmed she had one. This is the only time she wets in the house. Mads is now 11 1/2 years old and she does get me up during the night which is fine. I would rather her wake me then have an accident. Maddie is very vocal when she has to go. She barks and runs to the back door and when she comes.in fro during her business she stands in front of the treat jar to make sure I give her a cookie. When I adopted Mads almost 8 years ago, she had bad desperation anxiety. I totally understand what you went through. Mads is on amoxicillin as well. I have to be careful with it as I am allergic to amoxicillin. But I have noticed that she is doing a lot better now that she is on the antibiotic.
  12. Ducky, I am so sorry for the loss of Possum. Thank you for giving him the gift of a loving family. Hugs Amy & Maddie
  13. Maddie has an eye ulcer now 3 times. She has been to a eye doctor last year for a check on her eyes that Merial company provided for all therapy, service etc dogs. She had an eye ulcer prior to seeing the doggie eye doctor and he stated that everything was clear. Since then she has had her ulcer come back 2 times and the vet has stained the eye to confirm that it was the eye ulcer (it was). Maddie can't open her eye and looks like she is "winking" at me when she has the ulcer. The vet puts her on eye drops and rechecks if needed. Maddie RUNS when she sees the eye drop bottle in my hands but I need to put them in her eye for her to get better. I agree that eyes are not something to mess around with.
  14. Maddie has the shakes too. She is 11. When we go on our therapy dog visits and her leg shakes, we refer to her as her Elvis leg.
  15. Oh no. I am just seeing this. I always loved reading Joe T's reports. He will be missed by many. Run free Joe T.
  16. Irene, I am just seeing this. Maddie hopes that fuzzy feels better soon and she (and I am crossing fingers and paws) that he gets better soon.
  17. I feel your pain. Maddie has a corneal ulcer in her left eye and we have been doing eye drops too. Hugs to you and Morty.
  18. I have given immodium ad to Maddie before. I give the child dosage which tell you how many on the package.
  19. Jan, I am so sorry to hear about Sorella. Hugs to you and yours. Amy & Maddie
  20. Ducky, I am so sorry for the loss of Gracie. She will be missed by many. Hugs to you and yours. Amy & Maddie
  21. Canned Pumpkin for when Maddie is not feeling well and her poops are not firm and it firms it up.
  22. dobiegrey. Hope Betty and you and your dobie are doing better. Maddie is "hunger striking" at this time and not eating like she should. Mads is a food hound so this is not usual for her. So I have been giving my princess applesauce and canned wet dog food on her dry dog food and she seems to be eating more. Also tuna fish and shredded cheese seem to be working as well. we are thinking of you all.
  23. Many of you know Maddie's and my story of us dealing with SA I was a first time adopter at 34 when I went to the kennel to see the dogs I one I "thought" was placed on hold for me to see was not. so back into the kennel to see more dogs. I picked Maddie as she was a fawn girl and I love the fawn ones and she was the only dog not barking (little did I know that would change- she barks a lot but that is fine as she is usually telling me she has to go out) we took her out, she had just come in on a hauler an hour before I saw her, her back legs were shaking she was eating grass and she went up and sniffed a little girl who was staanding outside the pen. Perfect, we have a lot of kids in my subdivision. I played with her and placed her as adoption pending. fast forward to when I got her home, I understood that her life had changed from the kennel to my house. I slept in the living room the few few nights she was home. Did our alone training, taught her steps and other things. The it was back to work for me. Come to find out, she hated her crate, she ate 3 of them with her bad SA. my neighbor (and i live in a house) could her her whining. I tried everything, TV on, radio on, called the kennel for advice, used a DAP diffuser, doggy day camp, After the 3rd and final crate which she broke out of and was a wire one she met me at the backdoor with her tail wagging. I took a leap of faith, ditched the crate, used baby gates to keep her away from places she should not go in, closed doors and put her muzzle on. I was NOT returning her as this was fixable and she had bonded to me and vice versa. I did not want to put her on a drug, that was our last resort and we did have to put her on clomicalm for 2 months but Almost 8 years later, she has had an episode or two of SA, she is a relaxed dog who passed her TDI test with only 24 hour notice and the 2 minute test away from me- no problem. she is loved and fondled over everywhere she goes. She was just accepted as a pet therapy dog at Levine's Childrens Hospital after being on their waiting list for 3 years, she is a Paws to read dog and is a favorite at the retirement facility that we visit. Point is, it worked for us as I took the time to work with her. I walked her every monring and night for long periods and still do as we both love the walks If these people are not committed to getting up a little earlier to walk their dog for a little longer to wear him out than are they really willing to help him? JMHO.
