  1. Just prior to me bringing Teddy in for his 1st real dental, I noticed a smll whitish round hard lump on the roof of his mouth right behind his front teeth. It was removed during the dental and it was benign. Sometimes they grow back and sometimes not but most of the time, they are benign.
  2. There is never enough time. Sincere condolences on your loss.
  3. You need to make sure the pills have 500 mg each for glucosomine (3 pills a day), 400 mg each for the chordroitan and I'm not sure about the MSM. But 3 pills should be the amount and I read that no pill should have less than 500/400 and the label should read STANDARDIZED. Otherwise you don't know what you are really getting. Dr. Bill recently had a post about this and to be careful as all supplements aren't what they seem since they are not FDA regulated.
  4. MSm is for pain so I would think it's important.
  5. If you will still be around here during January. I will be at Petco in Carle Place, (by the Roosevelt Field shopping mall) the 4th Saturday of the month. If you would like to stop by and say hi, that would be greyt... OR you are welcome to meet my hounds ( I have 4) before that.
  6. OMG, what a horrible shock. I am so sorry.
  7. Welcome and as Trudy said, you really should learn as much as you can before deciding on whether or not a GH is for you. yes, they do need homes but so do millions of other breeds of dogs. There are many articles on the web as well as reading the suggested "greyhound for dummies". Check out the posts on this site under behavioral and training as well as everything else GH. You can get some greyt info this way and of course speaking with a rep in your area. Where in NY are you now?
  8. As long as she is going to a grey savvy vet, I would much rather see this ole girl loose her teeth and live out her years happy and pain free. My Polli lost 17 teeth (almost 9 at the time) when she was first adopted. Her teeth too, were atrocious. She learned to compensate without all those smelly teeth!
  9. I don't see the difference between no limit and refinance the house so I voted refi. I would do WHATEVER it took to get the correct medical help for any one of my babies. Right before my Rocky, a non grey passed in '04, I spent 8K in one week only to have him die. Whatever it costs... it costs. And no, I am not in a position too, who is? I would just deal with the financial cost as it happened. That's what 0% credit cards are for.
  10. As you know we have that appointment with Donato the 29th. I expect we will be taking Teddy for a while. See if you can get an appointment there too. If you want me to go with you, let me know.
  11. The vets by us who do all the veting for both Long Island based greyhound rescue prefer deramaxx over rimadyl.
  12. Always in my thoughts! update when you can.
  13. Welcome! Was Foosball from GAA by any chance???
  14. When Beau had his cast/bootie off, he developed an open wound becasue it was so moist. Treat it with an antibiotic spray so it can be kept dry. Wish you lived closer.
  15. Beau stopped racing at 2 years. 9 races. Chloe stopped racing at 2 years. 4 races. Teddy stopped racing at 2.5 years. 19 races Polli raced until? Brood momma on farm till 8.5. I agree, like humans, it's genetic and bad luck.
  16. It's so horrible when they are hurting. Sending loads of prayers your way for Frank.
  17. Polli who had a horrible limp for the better part of almost 2 months, finally cleared up on it's own. We rested it as much as we could. Her xrays and reports were sent to Cornell and Osu and nothing came up. Gradually it got better, and was 100% improvement. We started her on regualr walks with the pack. 3-4 a day 3/4 - 1 mile each walk. No problem. (gradual build up) Yesterday, I noticed she is holding up her left front (same leg) and then she is running on it, with her gait off. (running in back) I was so hoping that this had past. Back to square one? rest? meds if necessary? She otherwise seems OK.
