  1. What a greyt find! hope it continues to work for Henry and Lucky. How is Paul and Lucky? I haven't seen or hear much of him and I don't go on the GAA board all that often.
  2. I read that at first as you being 28 years old, then in the process of trying to figure out where the 17 yrs fit in (because you clearly couldn't have been 11 yrs old when you had a baby), I figured it out. (Sorry, can we blame the dense-ness of that comment on the fact that I just had birthday cake at work and there may be too much sugar in my blood right now?) This is one of the sweetest pictures I have seen in a long time. It's clear Polli loves and trusts you, and based on your posts, I can understand why. You are a good mama. Let me know if you ever want one of my kids. ;-) had my kids 11 years apart!!! YOUR farm is the trip we will take when we do take a trip. I am always talking to DH about your pups and farm. I'd love to visit someday. Everytime we try and do anything... whether it be go to the PA house or a greyhound event, something seems to "happen". Thank you, that is a major compliment. Happy Birthday???? or is it a co-worker?
  3. We do not use any flea preventative. We do however use Frontline plus when we go to our PA house during the susecptable months.
  4. DH is not most quiet person! So, I did wake up after he took it! That's why I grab whatever minutes I can get. As soon as my head hits the pillow, literally, I am asleep. I have been trying to read a book for the last 2 weeks. I am on page 2. As soon as I start reading, my eyes cross and I am out! It's like having a newborn again except I am 28 & 17 years older than I was when I had my newborns!!!!!
  5. Yes, she WILL be ok. And mom, you have to also for her! We are sending you loads of hugs and prayers for you and your girlie. She will be fine and she will even forgive you!
  6. Denise- I truly have no words. I was with you from the beginning of your postings, rooting for Brook, the highs, the lows and the in-betweens. That was one of the most beautiful tributes I have ever read. Brooke will be missed and she was surely loved. Run pain free beautiful Brooke.
  7. I would imagine, Tom. Polli had her 1st round the day after amp. The next one will be Nov. 3 supplied by OSU. My vet is the go between and giving all the info needed. They need to give the clinical info which we don't have.
  8. good idea about the crib mattress. We had bought a $300.00 set of Orvis steps many months ago which we also returned since the only one who used them was the cats!!!! I will look into getting one this weekend. I have one in the nursery for my granddaughter, but I don't think my DD would be please having me use that one for the dogs!!!! The crib mattress will slip around so you'll have to make sure you find a way to make it stay put. Our bedroom is only 9x9 so all I had to do was wedge a king sized pillow between the wall and mattress and it stays put. One of those non slip rug pads might do the trick. They make ones for smooth floors, and then they make another kind for carpet. We gave up our bedroom for Henry. With his seizures there's just no way I'd be able to get him down the stairs post seizure. The unfortunate thing is, we had to do demolition in order to get our queen sized bed up the stairs when we first moved in. Since it's too much work to get it down, and would take up so much room in the downstairs bedroom anyways, we just left it up there and our 11 year old is very happily sleeping on our luxury top of the line queen sized bed while we sleep on a full size bed we found in the garbage dump. Our bedroom is just the opposite. it's over 1100 sq feet. When I first moved into this house 16 years ago, I gave my DD the master bedroom with the bath and walk in closet and I took the 3 bedrooms on the top level and made that into a master suite and bath. I did not need 6 bedrooms. So, now we have 4. Our room is carpeted with frizay (Sp?) carpeting . I think with a sheet, it should be OK. I could test it out with my granddaughters mattress and not tell DD!!!! If it works, I'll get one. But Polli should be able to navagate 15 inches eventually.
  9. Oh no! So sorry the harness did not work out! Do you think it was just the whole idea of a harness, or just that particular harness? Probably both. This is not the time to try and teach her about the harness when she is coping with learning to naviagate with 3 legs. So....
  10. good idea about the crib mattress. We had bought a $300.00 set of Orvis steps many months ago which we also returned since the only one who used them was the cats!!!! 11. So glad he is feeling better. Very cute boy!
  12. She had no bruising at all. My vets used a compression sweater on her which made her not bruise. Oh yes, we got the harness and it's on it's way back for a refund!!! She absolutely refused to take ONE step with it on. I can't force it & can't drag her so back it went!!!!
  13. Our nights are still not greyt so I will try and catch a nap when I can. Last night, after DH walked Beau, Chloe & Teddy @ 11PM, he took this of me and Polli. We are still on the floor in the den. We took apart our bed last night and put the mattress on the floor in the master bedroonm. So now instead of the bed being 33 inchces of the floor, it is 15 inches with just the mattress. In order to accomodate all the pieces of the bed, we needed to use 3 other rooms in our house. We are totally upside down!!! We are hoping to try to use the bedroom over the weekend. If it's too much carrying Polli up and down all the steps we can always revert back to the den before we put those mattresss back where they belong. We are hoping that once Polii is back in the room where she was prior to all this, she will make an attempt on the steps. It's all up to Polli!
  14. I wish I had some words of wisdom to make this better for you.
  15. Just reading through it all and sending you both mega prayers and hugs. Please update when you can...

Robin- I am so sorry. Run Free Linus.
  17. Is it dandruff or dry skin? For dandruff needs special "stuff" which I don't know about but dry skin which looks the same as dandruff ( ) just keep petting her as the oils in your hands will do her coat well as well as a good food. We use "missing link" as a supplement. Lots of neat stuff in it.
  18. yes, the patch comes off today. i will see how she reacts after its been off. she goes potty inthe back yard, but wants to come right back in. Polli too as far as coming back in right after peeing sometimes. we did not have a patch though. Sometimes she wants to walk further than the 3 or 4 houses and we don't allow her to, we turn around and hop back. Sometimes we bring her out and she pees and looks at the door, not budging. That's the que- no walkie now. maybe later. It's hard not to want to get them moving, but I keep reminding myself and looking at the notes i took when my vet spoke to me upon her release. Take it SLOW. I am hoping we can try steps this weekend. If not, we'll wait another few days. Hope Ember is comfortable after her patch is removed.
  19. For some reason, we just don't and I am really OK with it. When it does happen, it happens. The south shore where we are inclines on the coast and we get are missed more often than not. The Pocono house, I wouldn't even THINK about going to in the winter months. I hear the ice is deadly there. No thanks, we''ll stick with the tropical south shore!!!!
  20. We are on the "tropical" south shore of LI. Very rarely. We usually get 2-3 inches and it's gone as quicky as it came. The last big snow we got was about 3 years ago and we were in Puerto Rico and the one before that was '03.
  21. Asia- you lead the way, we will follow. Baby steps. We are right behind you. Hugs to Ember & Asia Your tripod girlfriend, Polli
  22. Is she still on the patch? IF so, be careful with all the walking. She won't know whether or not she hurts or not. When I was running, I had a foot injury but would eat 10 perocet and not feel anything and run more and more. Not very bright on my part, and caused damage to something that would have healed on it's own.
  23. Oh man, something else to worry about! We have 5 steps in our house both the front and back. THe front is blue stone and the back is decking. We will keep it clean and sanded at all times and have a clean path for Polli into the lawn in the back and front. We normally do not get snow but I have a feeling this will be the year. Murphy's law.
