  1. Thank you for your kind words, everyone. Mimosa seems to be feeling a little better. She is putting more weight on the affected leg. She roaches a lot! And she remains her usual perky self and she loves her treats and walks! We recently discovered Waggin' Train Jerky Duos (got a full size sample in the mail). She goes nuts for those so we will search for more!
  2. Lots of really good information here, and lots of different treatments I see! We are now almost 1 week post diagnosis. Mimosa continues to be her happy self. I think she is actually feeling better since we started her on pain meds. She is on 50 mg Rimadyl and 50 mg Tramadol, twice daily for both. She roaches a lot. I wonder if that position is more comfortable? Her tumor is on her left femur. We are giving her lots of treats. Just got a sample bag of Waggin' Train jerky duos. She LOVES those. She is putting more weight on the affected leg, so that is good. Sometimes she barely limps. My kids now know and are of course upset, but understand, and also do not want to put her thru amputation. (No disrespect intended to those who choose to amputate). Thanks everyone for all the good information. it is comforting.
  3. Told the kids tonight. They handled it well, but they of course are upset. Mimosa is doing ok. Putting a little more weight on the foot, eating like a champ, wanting her treats and giving kisses!
  4. Thanks everyone. I am holding off on telling my kids (who are 14 and 21, but they will be crushed). My 14 year old has a big test tomorrow. She is studying, and I need to let her concentrate on that. My son is in class tonight. We will probably tell them tomorrow night. Mimosa is doing OK. My hubby said she had a nice walk with the other 2 dogs, and put weight on the foot. She has been getting extra chicken and cheese for her pain meds, and sleeping.
  5. I hate that I am on this page. Mimosa was diagnosed with Osteo today. She started limping a few weeks ago, and then barely would put weight on her left rear leg. I was so afraid of what the diagnosis would be, and x-ray today pretty much confirmed it. Vet said a biopsy would be needed for definite diagnosis, but in his vast experience with greyhounds (his office is the track vet, and sees all the greys going up for adoption), that it is Osteo. He thinks it is very aggressive and that she will not have much time. I already knew before diagnosis that I would not do amputation. No disrespect to any of you who have, but I do not want to put my dog through that. So She is on Rimadyl and Tramadol and we are going to love on her for as long as we can.
  6. Thanks.. Mimi is actually my other greyhound who is almost 11. Mimosa is our middle child and Bam Bam is the baby at 8.
  7. I don't post on here much, I am on Facebook (Camille Wagner) more, and am friends with a lot of you there. I can't post on there right now because my kids don't know the bad news yet. We will tell them tonight. Mimosa is my first grey, adopted in 2006. She is my heart dog and will be 10 on February 23rd. She started limping a couple of weeks ago. Took her to the vet today and she was x-rayed and my fears were confirmed. Osteosarcoma in the left femur. (Not a definitive diagnosis, she would need a biopsy for that). I am heartbroken. I won't put her thru amputation and chemo. We are home now, with Rimadyl and Tramadol to keep her as comfortable as possible until it is time. My heart is shattered.
  8. I'm so sorry for your loss of your wonderful Gustopher P.
  9. Hi DizzyLu and Jacob! We're in south Mandarin, and have 3 greyhounds, Mimi, Mimosa, and Bam Bam, all adopted thru GAP here in Jax. Actually Mimi and Bam Bam used to race for Mama Caffie. I saw their pictures on Greytalk, and the rest is history! There are also 2 other greyhounds in my neighborhood, Gordy and Odie (owned by different families). We hope to get together with the group at Mickler's Landing soon too. I work every other weekend, so it's sometimes hard to get to them. Camille

Haven't been on GT in awhile and my heart sunk when I saw Ryan on the banner. I'm so sorry for your loss of your beautiful boy. Run Free Ryan.
  11. Her vet is definitely grey-savvy. They do all the dentals/spay/neuters for the retired racers adoptions, and one of the vets there is the track vet.
  12. Mimosa seemed to have gotten the worst teeth of my 3 hounds. Mimi is probably going to need to have hers done pretty soon, the vet said they are still pretty good, but Mimosa needs hers done every year. She's going to be 6 this month. I know everything will go fine, but it's still surgery. Please say a prayer for her tomorrow (Friday) morning. Thanks!
  13. OK Smiley, study hard for your test! Fingers crossed for a negative!!
  14. It looks like Mimi has one too. We're trying Bee Propolis, as suggested by Dione, and covering it with a bandaid. She's figured out how to tripod walk on hard surfaces, and does fine on 4 legs on carpet and grass. She's limiting her walks herself. I just found some "pet boot's that I had squirreled away that someone sent me. I put one of those on her with a paper towel stuffed in it for cushioning. we'll see how that goes.
  15. YEP!!! Bandage is off. I'll have to get something for it after work. I might try Bee Propolis that Dione suggested to me.
  16. I don't know if that will help. The purpose of the bandage is to cushion the foot so she can walk on it.
  17. I cannot rewrap it. If I remove it she will not have one.
  18. Mimi has a bandage on her foot. It's wrapped in cotton and vet wrap. She has an injury to her pad which may be a corn. My dh didn't listen when I told him he has to wrap it in plastic if it's raining and he just took her out and it got wet. Not soaked but it's wet. Should I remove the bandage or wait and see if it dries out?
  19. what does a corn look/feel like? Is it easy to find? Mimi started limping today and biting at her back foot, then later she started holding the foot up. I looked, but couldn't find anything, except a discolored part on one of her toe pads.
  20. Yes, I would still give it to her. Hope she feels better soon.
  21. That's who I go to and they are very good. Dr. Nash owns the practice and the other doctors are Dr McMillian and Dr Neihaus. Hope she gets well soon! Edited because I saw your post on FB!
