What can I say, I can't believe she is gone! My baby girl grizzly bear. She was the amazing rescue story. When we got her she did not like other dogs or people. No one could come near me. She and Kona went at it for a while. And...there was not a piece of furniture or item in my house shoulder height down she did not eat or destroy! The cops were called on us regularly. Good thing they liked us and her. When we moved to our house she would escape everyday after breakfast and I went to work. We would come home to "we have your dog messages". She did it every night after dinner. She NEVER missed a meal!!! Nothing like looking for a black dog in a park at 3am only to get pummeled from behind by her. Usually after rolling in something lovely. Because of her we built a fence all the way to our roofline. She could no longer get out!
This troublesome dog grew into the most amazing, loyal dog ever! She took a vow of silence about 10 years ago. Go figure! She began to love everyone. Car rides were fun, not a torture trip to who knows where. She looked like the watch dog...she would let you in and show you around. But hey, looks scared people. We went to Disneyland one day and forgot our front door open. We came back 10 hours later and she and Kona were just hanging out. They don't dare leave the property unless told. Again....go figure!
She was scheduled for surgery on July 15 for toe amputation due to cancer. It did not appear to have spread, but now we are not so sure. Something went horribly wrong in her body. We suspect a tumor or something in her brain. She had severe neurological damage. Her back end was useless, her front end was barely responsive and her neck and face were not responsive. Nothing I could have done would have helped her. I hate that! So she and I laid on the vets floor covered in hair with fans they had for her to get her temp to drop and said goodbye. Something I would have given anything to not have to do.
So my Nala, run free my grizzly bear! Eat all you want up there! Lord knows, you were always hungry! She gained weight on air! Find Kona baby. I will see you again someday. I'm guessing you will sneak up and knock me on my butt. I am lucky to have had you grace my life for 13 years!!! I love you and miss you baby!
