  1. I am so sorry. The pain of losing them is unbearable. I feel the same way right now, my grey introduced me time great people. It's their gift to us.
  2. Shanti My ultimate heart dog, diva, Princess, primadonna and occasional PITA. My heart is utterly shattered as I let my girl go to rainbow bridge yesterday. Her body just gave out on her. Not fair. We got Shanti December 8, 2006. We picked her up from her spay surgery and brought her home. She immediately peed in my ex's car. Even funnier now. She came into our house and was the queen. We were her humble servants. Lol! She was a snuggle bug when possible. If you laid on the floor she came running to spoon with you. She is the only dog I've known to purr when she was happy. It was the cutest thing. She would always throw her head between your knees for neck scratches and loving. If you were sitting near her, you were demanded to hold her paw with your hand. She was a sassy one!!! She was not small animal safe. She reminded me of that with a few gifts she left me on my seat. Rat and a opposum on my couch. Awesome, thanks girl! guessing everyone heard me scream on those when I found them. Ha! She got a few birds too. Sorry critters! She had a lot of health issues we were battling. We didn't think she would live past 3. Lots of specialist and 11 1/2 years later she succumbed to the health problems. Certainly not without fighting back for all she was worth. She brought so much joy to my life. I am forever grateful for her introducing me into the world of greyhounds and the wonderful people here. I came to GT searching for help on a few "issues". We got through them all and I've gained some amazing friends. I owe her so much for that! Nothing will ever replace the hole she left me with, but we will see each other again. Until then sweet Shanti... I love you dearly!!!!!
  3. She's home. Doing very well overall! She's not tolerating antibiotics without vomiting so they pulled those for 48 hours.
  4. Correct! Got sent to east coast for work so I left her there for safe keeping. She is out and did well. My parents are good sports, but 2 kids and a invalid dog was going to be too much.
  5. Tested thyroid, it's fine. Go figure! She does not eat much and what she does is diet food. She will stay in the vet hospital for 5 days which may be a blessing.
  6. Miss Asti goes in Monday for surgery. TPLO is the best option for my moose girl. I have to travel on Monday too. She will stay in the vet hospital till Friday. I'm petrified about getting her home. Just getting her in and out of the car. I have an xpen, orthopedic bed, pads, sling and painkillers ready. I hope and pray she does well and the other joints hold. I'm afraid a front joint is compromised already. Monday morning at 7:30 she has to be there.
  7. Pharmacy gave me a great site to check prices. GoodRx Most places will price match. AAA often gets you discount on meds too.
  8. I just ordered another batch. This time they did 180 tabs for $89. Yippee! More for less but taking a few days to get it.
  9. Her surgery is scheduled for June 8. This surgeon does all 3 procedures regularly and a lot of experience doing them all. I am comfortable with him doing my girl. Final decision on type will be when he evaluated her personally. All I can do is hope and pray she does well with the surgery needed. I can't leave it as is.
  10. My Ralph's grocery pharmacy gets me 120 pills of 100 mg for $96. I now have 2 dogs on it.
  11. She is obese. Sadly she truly doesn't eat much, but with me back to work, she doesn't get much exercise either. I feel her pain. She's on the "knee" diet now. she's not eating much which is good and bad. She needs to drop 20 pounds at least. I pray this works and the other knee holds.
  12. Found it! Extracapsular repair or lateral suture technique or imbrication suture technique
  13. Don't think so. Playing phone tag with vet to go into more detail on it. Old surgery meaning TTA, tibial tuberocity? Ok, a little humor in this. As I read up from "Google university" as I call it, one problem states: "Pet owners are financially unstable after the surgery". Ya think?!?!? Lol!!!!!!
  14. Digging around on Internet. Lots of dogs do both knees at once.
  15. I was warned on the other knee. Risk is greatly increased with this one. Hopefully it lasts long enough for me to get this one paid off. No way I can do 2 right now under any circumstance.
  16. Well sadly my Australian Shepard tore her ACL and it requires surgical repair. That estimate was $4000. Does anyone have experience with this? What do I expect? Is that a reasonable estimate on a 83 pound dog? What's the recovery like? Any insight to what's in store for me and Asti would be appreciated! I was told I need to get her in within 2-3 weeks before changes start that make it worse and she blows out her other one compensating for the blown one.
  17. Retest is negative. now we need to figure out the ret of her issues.
  18. Took Shanti in for the retest today. I should know tomorrow what the real deal is.
  19. We've done that in the past. May come to that. I'll rerun tests once. If it's unclear, we move to specialist I think. Last time I did that it was $800 too! Edited: iPhone autocorrect sucks!
  20. I'll ask my vet about it. Miss Shanti's not doing good today.
  21. I spent 4 hours at allergist yesterday. Have had issues last couple months. Tested positive in January for dogs and cats, but negative on yesterdays tests. I'm currently on Zantac with Zyrtec in am and another Zantac with Allegra in pm. I have steroids too due to a severe reaction Thursday. Allergist said wipe down animals at least 1x a week with allerpet wipes, use hepa filter and keep animals out of your main space for you if possible. I HATE all the drugs! Weight gain is a common side effect and it sucks!!!!!! But I'm not willing to look like will smith in hitch or rehome my animals. I feel your pain! Hope you find a tolerable solution for you:
  22. Maybe. We are not in a hot zone and miss gimpy has not left my house. My money is on false positive. She's the "interesting case" at the vets. Never good to be that!!!!
