Thinking About Emily

Her gotcha day was last weekend. She is always on my mind, but more so this time of year. I realized the other day she was only with us one month and 21 days. It seemed like a lifetime; I wish so much that it really could have been.

I can almost feel her all around me. I miss her so.

I remember Emily's story. I'm sure she is with my Beansy and the two of them are snuggled up together. :grouphug

Have you thought about doing something to mark her gotcha day? Maybe planting a rosebush or something else that's meaningful to you that helps you remember her with happiness?

She may not have been with you long, but she knew she was loved. That's all she ever asked. Accidents happen, but the important thing is to always remember she didn't die in vain. She serves as a constant reminder to many people about the dangers of sliding doors, and has probably saved many other hounds from a similar fate.

I planted a 'Susan' magnolia and a 'Susan' rose bush when I lost her 2 years ago and I'm so glad I did. It's lovely to have a living memorial to her, and I love the fact that the magnolia blooms at this time of year (just a few weeks after she left us) and the rose is white, as she was.

See if you can find a rose, or a shrub, or a small tree which is called Emily. It can really make you feel closer to her and bring you comfort. :bighug

My problem now is finding a plant called James, or Jim. Can't seem to find one anywhere. :( I don't want it to have someone else's name like the James Grieve apple - but I'm still looking. Best I've found so far is a Norway Spruce - a tad too big for our little garden.

I am so sorry for this tragic loss. Emily is watching over you along with all of our bridge angels. Funny how they can send us those signs when we need them."Somewhere Over The Rainbow" we will all get to meet n greet one more time.Just believe!! :f_pink:f_pink:f_pink

I love the tree or shrub idea. I'm going to look for the Emily Gray rose for sure. That really would be perfect; beautiful just like she was.

I am just seeing this now, it is hard to believe 3 years have passed since, I have related her stories to others, hoping to spare them the pain you faced, Planting a rose sounds like a perfect way to honor her, :f_pink
