neosmndrew
My senior (12) year old great was recommended to start fluid treatment by our vet due to "elevated" kidney levels after his annual bloodwork. I was wondering if anyone here had experience with fluid treatment with their greys?
racindog
Yes. I had to give Aggie fluids. The vet just had me do it sub-Q and showed me how in 5 minutes. Easy peasy and it does help them feel better and probably prolongs their life IMO. Worth doing IMO and is NOT difficult.
Bill419
In 2005 we adopted a grey (Susie) who was almost 14 years old with kidney disease. We had to give her sub-q treatments. She lived about a month past her 15th birthday. We had her for 14 months. GreyPoopon
I've done sub-q fluids at home for several dogs and a few cats. It seems to make them feel better and probably helped them survive longer. cleptogrey
basically your buying time. watch out with kidney disease, you don't want your dog to get to the point where they are having seizures. my rule of thumb and my last GH had kidney disease due to lyme & anaplasmosis- when they stop eating it's time. it's not easy, i know.
