Is grumbling normal?

Rumble has always sort of grumbled to an extent, but he seems to be doing it a lot more lately. It's generally a neutral or happy thing he does, like a sort of nasal growl. He grumbles when he lies down, but lately has started grumbling occasionally when I fuss him and pet him (which I assume is a happy sound as he punches me with his paws to continue).

Given that he's started doing it a lot more all of a sudden, is it normal? I'm being a worrier in case it could be a throat thing, as he had a throat infection a few months ago, although didn't grumble at the time because of it.

Unless Rumble seems to be in some kind of distress,  I’d take the grumbles as a sign of contentment.

Our Nigel was a moaning groaning grumbler

Fuzzy is a comfy groaner! She does it when she's settling into a bed, or getting her ears rubbed. It's a lot of big noise from a small girl.

Forever Missed: K9 Sasha (2001-2015); Johnny (John Reese--Gable Dodge x O'Jays) (2011-19); the kitties Terry and Bibbi; and all the others I've had the privilege to know
