Stellasdad
I currently have a 3 yr old female greyhound,Stella, that I adopted last year, Stella and I live in an apartment and she does not stay in a crate when I am gone,Sometimes I will leave her alone for up to 8 hrs,she is house trained, however she does get the occasional loneliness and likes to get into my things .I have been contemplating getting another dog so she can have some companionship, my questions are as follows 1.should I get another grey or should I get another breed 2.Should I get a younger dog or older dog ant feedback would be great thank you stellasdad
sarabz
You are asking this question among one of the most enabling groups around 😁 Generally, if you can afford the vet and food for a second, yes, a second grey is a good idea. We have an older girl and got a younger girl. I firmly believe that our younger has added years to our older girl's lifespan. palmettobug
Older, yes, can you imagine two young girls bouncing around? There are people here who have two girls--I've been told that girls have a tendency to fight more, but it really, really, really depends on the dogs. I had two males for a while, they both got along great. Now I have a older boy and a younger girl, he can't live without her. They have gotten into a couple of squabbles, my boy Gino is a bit space possessive, and does NOT want to share his bed with anyone. They walk and get skritiches together just fine, just don't get snuggly! Quote Current Crew: Gino-Gene-Eugene! (Imark Roman: Crossfire Clyde x Shana Wookie); Kitties Archie and Dixie Forever Missed: K9 Sasha (2001-2015); Johnny (John Reese--Gable Dodge x O'Jays) (2011-19); the kitties Terry and Bibbi; and all the others I've had the privilege to know

sarabz
I have two girls who get along perfectly fine, never a single snark in 2.5 years. One is totally laid back, goes with the flow, the other is a bit of a nervy creature, needs a leader so personalities do matter. Remolacha
Of my seven greyhounds (not all at once, but I usually had at least two), five have been girls and they all got along great. As has been said, it is the personality, not the gender that matters.
